HAHA! Very very true...though saying that the part of that transcrpit with him actually talking ran 5 minutes was being rather generous as well

And yeah, I believe the pod casts without any of the extra material (parodies, intro music, etc) or commercials come in at about an hour and 40 to and hour and 50 minutes worth of audio.

I disagree with Rush on a number of things, either completely or in the extreme nature, but he's an interesting listen at times if I go into it from an entertainment perspective and more of a curiosity one, to see what one particular wing of my ideology thinks, where I disagree with it, where I may agree, etc.

I will say, he shocked the hell out of me the other day which was the first I'd listened to his show in a good while. He went as close as he ever has of calling people "neo-conservatives" (He used "new conseratives" but specifically mentioned Bill Crystal), and documenting his disagreements with their way in which they want to utilize government.

I honestly don't lump Rush in as a "neo-conservative" but as a rather ideologically far right conservative who happens to just fully believe in the potential threat of global islamist extremism an its danger it poses to the country. I think he's got caught up in the current mentality of how to fight such.

But then, for a bit now, between reading this forum and listening to others, I've began to see there is a distinct different between "Neo-conservatives" and conservatives that, due to their own beliefs and convictions, believe that the war on terror and the islamist threat is an important one but don't subscribe to many of the "neo-conservative" principles outside of that.

If you ask me what this is is this morning Rush woke up, looked at the numbers and saw that if Mike Huckabee didn't win big he'd be mathematically eliminated from winning the nomination in an non-brokered convention, and realized Republicans are gonna get behind McCain, but he can't flip flop, so what does he do? Claim it's all a ruse, a ruse that he must continue with a vehemence that can convince his regular McCain hating listeners that he's still serious (despite acknowledging on air that he's screwing around).

Rush sure has an overinflated opinion of himself.

I am not disputing your characterization of Mr. Limbaugh's position. I do not listen to his show, so I am not privy to the content beyond the transcript that was posted. My point is that he should maintain a clear and consistent position so as not to generate confusion as could have arisen from the transcript.

I, from now on, will pay 0 attention to anybody who may say anything disparaging about any talk show host: Limbaugh, Hannity, Beck, Savage, Gallagher etc...

It's pretty obvious that a great deal of the detractors of right-wing Talk Radio are people who never listen to the shows.
