Liberal pundit and radio talk show host Alan Colmes said today in an interview on Fox News, that he would like to see the FBI investigate the Clinton Foundation. Here's part of what he said:

"She's got to answer questions. She's got to stand up and answer to the press, whether it's a news conference or an interview. And as we said on Bill O'Reilly's show last night, I actually agreed with Bill, the FBI might want to look into if this was not a conflict of interest between her work as Secretary of State and any money that went to the Clinton foundation."

It isn't that Colmes thinks she's guilty or dislikes Hillary:

"I'd like to see her cleared, obviously, but I'd like to see full disclosure and transparency," Colmes also said. "None of this I didn't inhale stuff."

I wish there were more democrats and liberals out there who also believed that government transparency and full disclosure was more important than playing partisan politics. I used to hear them all the time complaining about government corruption and secrecy, but I guess that was more about who was occupying the White House than it was about cleaning up government.

Here's the segment from his interview with O'Reilly last night:

Looks like Alan Colmes is going to join the Washington Post and New York Times as part of the Grand Rightwing Conspiracy.

Really? Isn't it Fox who put Colmes on the air not once but twice? I say Alan Colmes has nothing to lose by what he said as he has no power to make it happen.
[sarcasm]I am pretty sure Fox doesn't talk about Hillary at all. [/sarcasm]

Pretty much classic Alan Colmes - a desperate cry for attention and relevance.

Not to say there shouldn't be a very public investigation of the foundation.

Alan Colmes is and will always remain Hannity's bitch. Who's kidding whom here?

Sure. There are plenty of left-wingers on FOX. Colmes also has a liberal radio-talk show. I remember listening to an episode a couple of years ago when I was in Japan, and he was waxing poetic about how the Arab Spring rebels in Egypt were a bunch of freedom-loving western liberals, and a guy called in to ask weren't a lot of them Muslim Brotherhood?, and Alan's response was to deride him as a nutter Glen Beck fan :).

Thanks for the story. Now you know how nutty he is to call for an FBI investigation of the Clinton Foundation.

Come on Grim, he was very wishy washy about the subject. He said "the FBI might want to look into if this was not a conflict of interest".

Might want to is not calling for anything.

He mostly wants the questions to be answered to clear the way for her campaign.

Why would anybody have something to lose by saying Hillary should answer questions?

His show is sooooooo hard to listen to.

I agree about what his motives are and I just wonder why the overwhelming majority of those on the left wouldn't welcome an investigation for the same reasons? If she did nothing inappropriate or illegal, there's no better way to prove that.

I wonder what the new word to parse will be?

We have to know what the definition if is, is.

There is no there, there.

I wonder what is next.

They wouldn't, that's my point.

You're right Pete... She should stay quiet. That's the first thing any lawyer would tell their clients. It's not if she's running for public office or anything.

I was not talking about Hillary, I was talking about Alan Colmes. I think Hillary has an upcoming date with Tray Gowdy.

Don't you find it a bit concerning as a Hillary supporter, that she refuses to answer any questions on this?

Why would anybody have something to lose by saying Hillary should answer questions?

The Need To Defend Her Inevitableness means you fight to the death at every bulwark, regardless of whether or not it is a good position to fight from. Part of maintaining that level of dedication among groups is attacking apostates.

Hillary isn't talking because she doesn't have to. Why bother, when you have willing defenders even in the face of evidence that would condemn others? She'll lay low and hope that the public's memory is short, that some of this is tamped down, and she'll answer whatever is left hanging around once that's determined. She has the George Stephanopoulos types around to do the dirty work for her.
