GOP idiot of the week : Science Subcommittee Chairman Doesn’t Vaccinate His Children

Re: GOP idiot of the week : Science Subcommittee Chairman Doesn’t Vaccinate His Chil

Yeah. Thats right. The guy who's the chair of the science subcommittee doesnt think vaccines should be mandatory because.... well.... homeschooling. I guess.

Georgia Congresscrank Never Vaccinated His Kids And They All Turned Out Mostly OK | Wonkette

He's also considering opening hearings on whether people are covering up the evidence that vaccines cause autism.

If you ever wanted the poster child for why many people wont vote GOP, here it is.

how does one make the leap from being anti-mandatory vax to pro-infectious disease?.. well, without being a complete and utter hack, that is.

Hey apparently I'm shilling for ISIS when I suggest that monsters will be monsters regardless of what book they happen to read.

Actually, it's really only one, maybe two ideas, closely rather than randomly related.

I have to believe you have a number of copy-and-paste fragments of invective that you somewhat carelessly throw about whenever required to save you the effort of hard thinking. I can't say i can blame you.

You probably intended to...

ZZZzzzzzzzzzz...

You probably intended to type 'random words' rather than 'random ideas', which would still not be applicable in this case but doesn't leave one scratching one's head.

I have the feeling that if i want to effectively debate an intellectually formidable liberal progressive i'm going to have to start typing rebuttals to my own posts. Ihaven't found any commie-lib here up to the job yet.

Dunning

No one is saying that the sky is falling. Just that vaccines make you demonstrably less likely to contract illnesses -- some of which are potentially lethal. The notion that vaccines are 'overdone' or that mandatory vaccines are contrary to freedom is right-wing lunacy.

Vaccines are overdone.

Hep B
Chicken pox
Tetanus
Pneumococcal conjugate (pneumonia - because it's only valuable to those with compromised immunity or some chronic lung problems)
Influenza (known to be ineffective)
Hep A
HPV
Meningococcal conjugate (meningitis)

All unnecessary

A case can be made for MMR and diphtheria being generally unnecessary as the numbers of deaths in those that contract the disease is extremely low, particularly in people that are well-nourished and have access to clean water and food.

That means in the local high school, on average, one kid will die becaue of a totally preventable disease, and hundreds more will be ill.
In the '50s, about 500 deaths due to measles happened. PER YEAR.

1950's medicine wasn't nearly as capable as 2015 medicine.

A small price to pay for the price of freedom. The freedom to get preventable infectious diseases.

reductio ad absurdum

I bet if we renamed it 'Muslim fever' all the nutjob Conservatives would be on board with vaccination.

Name calling? Really?

Hey... couldnt help noticing that firearms are high on the list. Funny how you skipped that one.

I was putting the things on the list YOU wouldn't expect.

Re: GOP idiot of the week : Science Subcommittee Chairman Doesn’t Vaccinate His Chil

The MMR vaccine has serious complications rate of about 1 in 2 million. That would make it exponentially safer than even an NSAID.

How do you know you almost died from a vaccination? Are you allergic to eggs? Did you get sick after being vaccinated? If so how do you know it was due to the vaccine and not simply a coincidence?

How do I know? My parents told me. I spent two weeks in ICU after the first vaccine and had to get a letter from my doctor every year I was in school to have an exemption for the MMR vaccine requirement.

.

How many deaths are you willing to trade for the freedom to not get vaccinated?

A random collection of disjointed ideas designed to impress unintelligent lurkers. Probably works, too, if anyone cares.
You probably read his other posts too...

One or two. No, just one. Enough, anyway.

As many as it takes. Are you not familiar with live free or die? That's not even originally a New Hampshire or American motto. It was a popular phrase used as far back as the French Revolution. Freedom is the ultimate goal on Earth.

LOL. Live free or die does not really mean having the freedom to die of smallpox.

Or maybe in bizarro libertarian world it does.

That's impossible. I was specifically told on this forum that not vaccinating was a liberal thing.
