Fact Checkers Dismantle Dick Cheney's Pro-Torture Lies

Man oh man. Some people just repeat and repeat their lies without any moral thought, and Dick Cheney is one of those people. All of these lies he told recently have been debunked many times before, and yet he still tells them. Unfortunately people believe them and try to back him up, so I guess its time to debunk them yet again. I guess its time to debunk his bull**** yet again.

Oh Gawd! The dishonesty of it all.
David Pakman is an idiot.
His willingness to buy into liberal fact checkers as actual fact checking speaks to his idiocy.

Obfuscation of the truth, is not the truth. But it is just what liberal lemmings buy into.

1. "this is mostly false" :doh
Mostly false does not indicate that is is totally false. Or specifically what Cheney was referring to.

2. "largely refute that statement"
"Largely refute" does not indicate that is is totally false. Or specifically what Cheney was referring to.

3. one could quibble about whether these practices were exactly like the version of water boarding practiced by CIA interrogators
Holy ****. Quibble?
If they were not the same, there is no comparison. Duh! That is not quibbling.

The recent Senate report does not change the fact that the Justice department did not find any violations in the interrogation methods. End of story.
All this other **** is a political dog and pony show.

Like most of America, I'll stick with Cheney on national security, not a bunch of pandering limpwristed lieberals.

Yep...when it is nice and safe and secure you are sure to find people falling out of the trees with their conscience and moral outrage.

Remember when liberals used to protest drone strikes too?

We should toss his ass right out of office... Oh wait...

If anyone thought Tricky-Dick #2 would say anything different, you were being absolutely delusional!

He's like "Command", the character on ABC's Scandal. Scary dude, but (gulp) the country needs people like him to do the dirty work. I certainly don't like him, but I'm of the opinion that you'd better not turn over that rock...you might not like what you find in the secret underground bunker. (And for goodness sake don't cut the man open; you might find slug in his veins.)

Not unlike a certain president...lies to cover lies..."you can keep your plan", and "I never said that"...

It's a long, long list

I get that Cheney is a liar, we knew that.

But how is this an issue since Obama has continued and defended these practices? Obama had and has the opportunity to stop it and he has not. It's mortally lame to blame and accuse a former vice president for a practice on going six years AFTER he left office.,

It's always the same with Obama and his fanatics, it's all about Bush and never the guy now calling the shots. That's why no one believes you anymore.

I was thinking Colonel Jessup in 'A few good men". Deep down in places you don't like to talk about aprties, you want me on that wall, you NEED me on that wall"

Hmmmm... I was under the impression that Obama stopped these torture programs? Unless you're talking about Gitmo?

The Democrats lost the alleged torture debate ,big time.

Democrats lose the
Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), who chairs the Senate intelligence committee, launched a six-year, 6,000-page, $40 million investigation into the CIA interrogation program, with the goal of convincing Americans that a) the program did not work and that b) enhanced interrogations were wrong and should never again be permitted.

She failed on all count
Just before Christmas, a Post poll revealed the American people’s final verdict. The vast majority agree with the CIA that these techniques were necessary and justified. A majority think that Feinstein should never have released her report. And — most importantly — 76 percent said they would do it again to protect the country.

Americans were asked, “Looking ahead, do you feel that torture of suspected terrorists can often be justified, sometimes justified, rarely justified or never justified?” Note that the pollsters used the loaded word “torture” (even though the CIA contends that the techniques did not constitute torture), which should have biased the question in favor of the critics. Instead, 17 percent replied they would support using the techniques “often,” 40 percent “sometimes” and 19 percent “rarely.” Only 20 percent said the techniques should “never” be justified.

You want to hitch your wagon to that Mephistophelean asshole, be my guest.

Well if your standard is "more of the same" you've got a real winner in Dick.

That is how liberators are greeted by those who don't want to be "liberated."

You have no point by your comment. We were greeted as liberators.

Revisionist history aside, we were greeted as liberators in Iraq

The late Christopher Hitchens had a standard response to Iraq war critics who ridiculed Vice President Cheney and others who predicted that U.S. troops would be greeted as liberators in Iraq. His response: “They were, I saw it.”

Others saw the same thing, and reported it. Michael Rubin collects some of these reports. For example, there was this from the Daily Record of April 10, 2003:

Ten days ago, when the war still looked like a contest, Iraq’s deputy premier poured scorn on claims that civilians would greet Allied troops with flowers. Baghdad’s people rammed Tariq Aziz’s sneers down his throat. Hundreds threw bouquets at US tanks as they rumbled through the city. Mothers held up babies for soldiers to kiss. Kids reached out to touch the tanks. The fact of their freedom was hard for many Iraqis to accept. Millions have lived their whole lives under a regime where it was a crime to throw away a newspaper, because Saddam’s face was always on the front page. Some stayed in their homes, astounded and still afraid. But others poured on to the streets to celebrate.

Powerline.

Hitch was a huge cheerleader for the Iraq War. Sure, we were greeted as liberators, except by the thousands of insurgents that killed 4,000 American soldiers. Some "liberation."

Even the insurgents greeted them as liberators. The exact way someone who doesn't want to be liberated would. The ultimate "revisionism" would be that there was no violence and no insurgency. Which is exactly what Cheney's cheerleaders would want you to believe.

I wonder if Kennedy would have use EIT on a Cuban to find out about those nukes, had he felt the need.

To be perfectly honest, Dick Cheney (Dick Chaining) sounds like a torture in itself.

Doesn't matter what "Hitch" was or wasn't.
We were greeted as liberators. Period.
It is documented.
Just because things later changed does not mean that we were not greeted as liberators.
