I am not posting this because I have a mission to discredit FOX news (although I do loathe them) I am posting it because of Mr. Stewart's brilliant (and sadly accurate) commentary on being black in America. I posted here because of the links headline.

I like Jon Stewart. It's pretty sad that we can get better news coverage from a show on Comedy Central than actual news networks.

I stopped watching Stewart and Colbert shortly after Obama took power. They were great during the bush years, speaking truth to power or so I thought. It became fairly obvious during the first few months of BO's term that no, they were not speaking truth to power, rather promoting a leftist agenda by mocking the right. Even when the dems controlled the entire congress and the presidency, both Stewart and Colbert focused on republican missteps.

Sure, they'll throw a sop for the most egregious left failings, like the exchanges, but certainly not as relentlessly and from as many angles as the failings of the right.

Here's a case in point, calling out Fox news. Yes, fox slanted things in Ferguson coverage, but so did MSNBC from the other side. No call out there that I'm aware.

The right wants to cling to the notion that everything is fine, there is no racism in America anymore. It's pretty obvious that is not the case, but its not what they want to believe so as usual they're going to relentlessly deny it and turn it around as them being the victims.

Of course.

John Stewart is PAID to criticize Fox News.

Racism strongly exists....in the black community.

It's even sadder that people think that Comedy Central is a news show.

He's not giving the news. He's making fun of how the news is presented.

Hannity's talking about being pulled over was a worthy target for ridicule, because it was ridiculous. Sean ****ing Hannity does not regularly get pulled over by the cops, and he has never stepped out of the vehicle and lifted up his shirt to show the officer where the gun is. He has never done that. He made that up. Worse, the idea that a black man can step out of the vehicle and then reach down to lift his shirt up without getting an ass kicking or a bullet shows just how disconnected Hannity is from actual racial issues in this country. Or any issues dealing with police, for that matter.

You don't step out of the car when an officer pulls you over, unless they ask you to. And you sure as hell don't go "LOOK HERES MY GUN." If I did that, I'd get yelled at. A black person would probably get arrested.

I was responding to Telekat who was saying that the Daily Show was a source of news.

I like how neither you nor Stewart actually know anything about anything but you realy entirely on assumptions base don who you think someone else is. That sounds... oddly familiar. Oh right, that is what you claim everyone else does.

Also, your scenario is almost exactly what happened to a white kid in Utah, except he was pulling up his pants. I guess the police officer must have mistaken him for being black...

You'd be arrested to.

I always look to white people when I need to know if there is racism coming from the white community.

Of course.

Given that Stewart should be independently wealthy by now (he pulls down $25-30 million/yr according to TV Guide), and that he is co-executive producer of his show, I think he can do whatever or criticize whomever he wants free of any external pressure, be it monetary or managerial.

This would tend make false your insinuation that he is not speaking his own mind.

Fox does supply guys like Stewart with a never ending supply of material.

On the other hand, getting back to the facts about Ferguson (in case anyone is interested in those dry, dull old things we refer to as facts), it doesn't appear to be true that Brown actually just raised his hands above his head when confronted by the cops:

Unless, of course, he raised his hands so quickly that he accidentally clipped the cop in the eye while doing so.

Source?

Are you claiming that is a picture of Officer Wilson in the hospital?

And in making his satirical points, he is, in fact, disseminating news and spinning it for the very young and very credulous who are unable to distinguish between hard news and humorous punditry.

For a lack of finding the correct FOX thread,
Hayes, William and Krauthammer coming later on Baier's panel.
Still the best newshour on Cable.

Though I like getting ginned-up by Ed and yelling at the chameleon Matthews .

He's a comedian. He has no obligation to lean left, right or be balanced.

Jesus some people are thick.

That's not the cop from the pictures I've seen.
