Personally, I find the notion that a president can be an idiot insulting.

An idiot becomes President due to his being amenable to manipulation.

Certainly the Industrial defense war machine placed this particular idiot in the top seat, Bush is silly to even think he is the one who manipulates others.
I believe that Cheney was placed in position of VP just to keep Georgie boy's utterances in line.

I find the notion that an idiot can become President of the US to be really quite amusing, it certainly reveals the eternal stupidity of the American Electorate.

Note I say stupidity, I would have said LUNACY had they actually elected Kerry.

Rove won those elections. And what are you saying? That Bush is smarter than any 1 term president? Does that apply to Clinton too?

You are partially correct, Navy Pride. Perot never did drop out of the race and did receive a large percentage of the vote for a third party candidate. However, Theodore Roosevelt, running on the, Progressive party (a third party), received 27% of the vote in 1912.

Re: Pundits Renounce The President

I do not think that Bush is an idiot. We're all smart about some things. When Bush discusses a subject he has a full understanding of, he sounds smart. However, for the most part, I think the issues he faces as president go over his head, which is why he sounds like such a dummy at every single press conference. I am embarrassed listening to him. He has got to be one of the more inarticulate presidents we have had, and it's no wonder people ask if he is intelligent or not. Look at our other presidents--they exuded intelligence in the way they spoke (Nixon, Carter, Bush, Clinton, etc.). Not this president.

So what if he got better grades than Kerry? Grades do not necessarily correlate with someone's intelligence. Same with SAT scores. If you want to address Bush's intelligence, I would recommend leaving Kerry out of it--or is that the only way some of you can respond to an attack on Bush's grades? *yawn*

Re: Pundits Renounce The President

I find it just short of unfathonable that people could listen to George Dubya Bush and come away with the impression that there is a sparkling intellect at work. Partisanship overrides common sense, it seems.

I suppose the reverse side of this coin would be if liberals/democrats/leftists tried to claim that Nixon WASN'T intelligent. This just reveals one's political blinders through the inability to separate the notion of agreement with the notion of intelligence. This is just a form of self-flattery as far as I'm concerned, for what people are really saying is "I agree with them, so we must both be smart".

Heck, we have had excellent examples of this right here on this board recently when one obviously very intelligent poster was singled out as being less intelligent than the average American. "You don't agree with me, therefore you must not be intelligent". "You do agree with me, therefore you are".

There are stupid leftists and stupid rightists, intelligent leftists and intelligent rightests, and quite a few VERY intelligent moderates, independants and centrists.

oops, was I just guilty of exactly that which I was pointing out?........
