It always was thus. Most political parties around the world have an official newspaper that they publish, it's different here in that it's unofficial. Somewhere, modern Americans got this idea that the news was supposed to unbiased. Only it never was, that's what the First Amendment is for.

Before Fox News, the overall majority of mainstream media news sources(CBS-ABC-NBC-MSNBC-CNN) reported the "facts" from a liberal/progressive perspective_

After 1986, Fox began reporting the news from a conservative perspective which helped to equalize the left/right balance of the information being fed to the public_

Even though Fox was competing against multiple network and cable news sources it's popularity quickly increased it's audience to nearly the numbers of the others combined_

Therefore because of Murdoch, we now have a right-wing option rather than the one-sided leftist propaganda we had so long been subjected to_The result is "Fair and Balanced"_

To be quite honest, I hate ideological journalism__I would much prefer if all news sources would simply give us all the facts and let us make up our own minds_

Trying to decipher the truth from the propaganda supplied by two agenda driven news sources in a struggle to influence our political choices can be frustrating_

I watch left-wing news because it's "How to spy on your liberal friends 101".

Sometimes, I wonder if all those channels are actually owned by right-wingers just trying to make a buck.

I find this whole crap about mainstream media "bias" usually comes from extreme conservatives who are just upset that the network in question doesn't say the things they WANT them to say.
