Another BBC bias

I watched 3 hours ago the news edition of 2:00 AM (England time) of BBC and they put a transparency which sais that 7 Israelis got killed and 600 Lebanese got killed but they didn't say that the 600 Lebanese who got killed is the number since the begining of the war 3 weeks ago and that number include also the Hizbullah fighters who are more than 300.

The number of the 7 dead Israelis is only from yesterday from the Katusha missiles but they did error in that also - 8 Israelis got killed and not 7, not to mention that also 4 Israeli soldiers got killed yesterday.

27 Israelis got killed from the Katusha missiles so far and more than 1100 wounded and dozens of Israeli soldiers got killed also.

But BBC don't like to mention that.

Re: Another BBC bias

I don't read the European press much, particularly the English and French press, precisely because of this kind of propoganda.

There is a thread on another board from a while back that is on this very topic, Discussanything, I believe. There are also some real independent media sites that document this. Don'' have any links at the moment, but I'm sure most thinking people are well aware of the utter lack of objectivity in most of the media conglomerates and the Euro press when it comes to the ME. After all, it is largely the sorry end results of British and French ME policies we are seeing today.

WW I is still going on for all practical purposes.

If there is any propoganda here its you thats spreading it big time.

You are clearly misrepresentating what they said and have been saying. You are spreading propoganda on these boards. The BBC is probally the most unbiased new source out there these days and if you have a problem with them, then complain to the oversight authority that governs the BBC. Can you do that when it comes to bias in Isreali or American media? They even have a show where people's opinions about the coverage is aired and your "concerns" have been raised there and answered by the BBC boss himself. Oddly enough it was almost the same "attacks" by woman complaining as you have come with... I wonder, do you share the same Talking Points email subscription?

If they are so biased, then why have they been interviewing Isreali soilders constantly?

The BBC mentioned the 7 (or was it 3 or was it 6.. depending on time and channel) Israelis that got killed yesterday. They have mentioned all the Isreali dead, and reported from many places in Isreal. They have interviewed Isrealies in bunkers and shown footage of the damage the terrorist rockets create.

The number 600 is an estimate that the Lebanon goverment has been floating out there (since risen to 800 plus) of civilian casualities. The number of dead terrorists can not be confirmed by any party and how many of the 600 (or 800) civilians that were terrorists is unknown and your claim of it being 300 is just that.. propoganda from the IDF.

The report from both sides of the conflict, something many pro Isreal channels and media do not.

The funny thing was that when Haifia is getting hit by rockets the BBC guy is in full body armour, but the guy reporting form Lebanon is not.. Now how can this be baised against Isreal? It clearly shows that its more dangerous in Haifia than South Lebanon... which frankly aint true. Are you gonna complain over this?... thought not.

What you dont seem to understand is that the Lebanese are getting hurt far more than the Isrealies and hence the reporting of deaths and damage will be "in thier favor" as there is more to report. Sure the terrorists fired 200 rockets yesterday, but how many did actually hit anything?

One thing is for sure... Dont trust the IDF numbers and dont trust the terrorists numbers as they are very very biased... but let me guess you trust the IDF 100% and thier information is in no way propoganda? Just like US media often eats up US military information without any degreee of sceptisim.

Oh you mean something that is more to the truth than the US media coverage which so totaly focused on those poor Isrealies? Ever heard of reporting from both sides of a conflict? Telling the whole story? Or do you just like to hear what you want to beleive in?

Again its amazing that you accuse the european media as a whole as having a lack of objectivity. Is it not the role of the media to cover both sides of a story and not take sides if it can? The BBC does that as best possible.

And what sites? I know of a few sites where some pro Isreal groups attempt to attack the BBC, its reporting and documentary series. Some of the attacks are valid and often the BBC aknowledge that the show in question is biased, but most of the time, the reporting is pretty fare.. especially when you compare to stations like Fox or MSNBC or most US networks.

Is there bias in European media towards the palestinians.. sure there is. Is it wide spread and constant all over the place.. hell no. Of course we got the rags who are left or right, going pro or anti Isreal, but by far the big mainstream news organisations are pretty unbiased and report where the story is. If the story is in Lebanon reporting the hundreds of possible dead innocent civlilans or in Isreal reporting on a handfull of dead.. then thats where they go.

Also todays problems are correctly as you mention, the doing of the Brits and French (in a minor role), but also of the US and few other countries. Lets not forget the contribution of the US in setting up and lobbying for the creation of the State of Isreal. Nore should we forget the role of the Turks, or the Catholic Church.

The funny part is that at the moment the most anti Isreal news channel as far as I can see it on the European (english) new networks is Sky News... run and owned by Rupert Murdock.. the dude that owns Fox News. They are pretty fair on facts, but when it comes to opinion.. gezzz they rip the US and Isreal a new one whenever they can. A few days ago the IDF released a video that they tried to sell as the bombing of the building where those many children were killed. Sky News and not the BBC, analysed the pictures and found out that the IDF was lieing.. what a shocker. The building was near yes, but it was not the building in question.

One thing is for sure.. the IDF and Isreal media are like the Palestinians trying to win a media war by trying to either influence media or by bullying them. Lets just hope the media outlets got the balls and strength resist as much of this as possible, else we will never get the whole story.

Re: Another BBC bias

When I search google news for "600 Lebanese," and source=BBC News, every single one of the articles mention that about 600 Lebanese have been killed since the start of the conflict. Every single one.

Granted, the BBC News website is not the show you saw, but I seriously question your ability to be objective. I also seriously doubt that the actual, exact wording you saw was:

And it isn't true. Most stories are understandably about those being killed, not those being injured.

Where'd you get your numbers?

No. I did saw it and I said that they put a transparency with the details I've said. Later on they talked with their people in the zones but the transparency spoked for itself.

Untill yesterday 27 Israelis got killed from the Katushas, the link you gave is from 2/8/06 - that was 2 days ago. Yesterday 7 Israelis got killed from the Katushas so it goes to 27 dead Israelis - only from the Katushas.

BTW, today, 3 more Israelis got killed from the Katushas.

Re: Another BBC bias

I rely on the BBC (and other foriegn press agencies) to give me a More complete and accurate report that I can usually get at home. The simple fact that they are criticized by both sides for Bias....on a relatively continuous basis...is enough for me to see they are doing a pretty good job.
