Fake news is a real problem, especially on Facebook. The amount of bull**** articles I have gotten from right wing "media outlets" in the US during the campaign is mind boggling. Lie after lie.

Fake news is not really the problem. It is people believing it without double checking.

As for the main media, the Anglo Saxons are privileged. Sure there is a lot of false information circulated. But they get information from every major country in the world served them in English. You can get every aspect and opinion of almost every story on earth. In Places like Germany most of the population has to rely on German language stuff that is severely narrowed on many subjects and does not give opinions that are "undesirable". That is how they got into the mess with the Euro and Schengen.

The underlined sentence may be translated as: "The perceived truth becomes truth through change of behavior." OR That which one believes to be true becomes TRUE when it complies with one's perceptions

This is a rather interesting rebuttal to the article. They essentially confirm everything that is said in the Breitbart article...just disputing the level or extreme that is stated in the Breitbart article.

Whatever motivation could state officials have of downplaying the events?

There is a continuing struggle in Islam between factions with differing views of the Quran. the more moderate, sensible faction is large and the extreme faction is small. Unfortunately , this is little consolation to those who get run over by a ruck by the extreme faction.

OTOH, there is a LARGE contingent of Muslim who , while not murderous, have very disturbing anti-Semitic , anti gay views .

Both are huge problems and liberals here in the US ( and most of Europe ) won't confront it for fear of :

1) losing votes
2) not being the non-judgmental, holier-than-thou, moral superiors to the deplorables.

Actually it IS! You dont even know how your own media works. Plus every media outlet have a... censor. If there was a free press, and freedom of expression as you claim, then there would be no need for a censor.

Where have I ever said that? If there is no ability of the media to police themselves, then something must be done to prevent that all the media turn into Briebart and similar bull**** fake news organisations.

You see no difference between a headline saying, "Set Germany’s Oldest Church Alight on New Year" and the facts that 1) it was not Germany's oldest church and 2) it was a protective curtain on construction scaffolding which caught fire from a fireworks rocket? A fire which was extinguished in a couple minutes.

You see no difference between a headline saying "Revealed: 1,000-Man Mob Attack Police," and the local police saying New Year's Eve revelry was actually the most peaceful in years, with no attacks on the police?

Pointing out the facts is now to be seen as denying reality? Breitbart only magnified the events on New Year's Eve? WOW!!!11!! have fun in your world.

I will tell you that I simply dont trust the media and especially a state that has consistently downplayed violence in their borders to report the truth. One side offers a worst case scenario. The other offers a best case scenario. The truth is most often somewhere in the middle. Again...every incident reported was validated...disputed is the scope.

Wow. You seem really imbalanced today. I quite clearly stated I dont 'believe' either side and that the truth is usually somewhere in between the extremes. Yet you are committed to some weird form of hatred and partisan bent. Perhaps you are just overwhelmed by the events of the day.

Oh...theres 'anger' on display...that part is sure. You might want to have a conversation with that person in the mirror.
