True. This appears to be a hate crime by any sensical definition.

That a hate crime won't be charged, shows you exactly the unfairness of the hate crime statues.

What do you call a law that only applies to some of the population? Illegitimate and / or unconstitutional seems to come to mind.

Are hate crime laws only applied to some of the population or is that just selective memory? Or selective reporting. The FBI reports in 2015 that 48.4% of offenders charged with hate crimes were white. 24.3% of the offenders were black. Given that whites make up around 63% of the population and blacks make up 12.3% of the population I am curious where you see the disparity.

Let's see if hate crime charges are filed in this case, or not. I'm willing to go out on a limb and say they won't be.

I know that the leftwing media is full of hypocrites who spent the last 8 years hunting stories to play with race card with. Now that the tables turned, suddenly race isn't important.

And I hate to play the role reversal card usually, but this one sticks out. The media either needs to be consistent in identifying race as a factor, or consistent in not jumping to race as a factor.

Actually it shouldn't be the story, but the leftwing hypocrites need this pointed out to them at every turn so they stop doing it. How many assaults don't get reported each day? Probably a lot, so why does this one matter. Only because leftwing hypocrites spent 8 years hyperventilating over every black that was shot/assaulted by a white because racism.............but silent over black on black crime.

i putting forth that if the story was in the reverse, meaning 4 whites 1 black, the political lean makeup of the thread would be different.

With this specific case? I don't know. If I had to bet a dollar on it I would say hate crime charges will brought. But I'm not any more confident than that. I don't know how these things go but maybe it would be used as a bargaining chip to get them to plea.

It took a mentally disabled white kid being tortured for any black-on-white to get substantial news coverage.

Of course, addressing the disparities in crime by race is racist, xenophobic, hateful, and bigoted.

He was Trump supporter though right? Given what's been said about Trump voters and supporters after the election maybe the attackers felt justified or that the guy had it coming. I really wonder if some folks truly feel this is no big deal or that the victim really deserved it but just don't want to say.

The issue being pointed out by the thread is the guilt-ridden white lean of the liberal mainstream press.

They are giving it little coverage so that the fewest liberals possible will hear about it

As far as I know, there's nothing to show that he voted for (or even supported) Donald Trump.

Thought I heard that he had, but maybe that was speculation based on the "**** Trump" comments that could be heard. If he was though, would or should that mitigate what occurred?
