How to spot fake news in your facebook feed....

or here on DP, or anywhere else of course.

First, know the different types of misleading and false news
1. Fake news
These are the easiest to debunk and often come from known sham sites that are designed to look like real news outlets. They may include misleading photographs and headlines that, at first read, sound like they could be real.
2. Misleading news
These are the hardest to debunk, because they often contain a kernel of truth: A fact, event or quote that has been taken out of context. Look for sensational headlines that aren't supported by the information in the article.
3. Highly partisan news
A type of misleading news, this may be an interpretation of a real news event where the facts are manipulated to fit an agenda.
4. Clickbait
The shocking or teasing headlines of these stories trick you into clicking for more information -- which may or may not live up to what was promised.
5. Satire
This one is tough, because satire doesn't pretend to be real and serves a purpose as commentary or entertainment. But if people are not familiar with a satire site, they can share the news as if it is

There's a lot of it around, mainly type 2 and 3.

When there's fake news on the NYTimes front page, it skews the definitions.

What the Left really means, is that fake news is anything they don't like.

They're a little late to the party on this one. LOL!

It illustrates how desperate they are. For years, anything they don't like has been a lie. They got such a big mudhole stomped in their asses this go 'round that they have to actually dream up a name.

Notice the first definition mentions, "sham sites". And who gets to say what is, or isn't a, "sham site"? :lamo

Obama has been very clear about what he considers to be sham sites [or sham citizens]. Hillary went a step further calling Trump supporters deplorable.

Were there news organizations that worked in conjuction with the DNC in order to sabotage the primary campaign and swing the general election? These organizations fit the bill most closely and there are several others...

CNN
New York Times
MSNBC
CBS
NBC
Washington Post

In my opinion this CNN guide to ad hominem counts as fake news.

Bad reporting should be exposed as bad reporting. Refusing sources rather than exposing the errors is no better than printing errors on purpose.

They have to explain the new rhetoric to their viewers.

and the right thinks the same thing.

So, the trick is to identify fake news sites whether they are "right" or "left," or perhaps neither one.
