This may be the dumbest paragraph I've read yet.

Keep in mind, this lady lives in the Beltway and works for the Washington Post, not some far-flung rural district.

But … it’s still not pleasant to wake up Tuesday morning feeling like you’re Katniss Everdeen and to go to bed Wednesday morning realizing that tens of millions of your fellow Americans — the real ones, apparently — think you’re one of those stupid, shallow people with weird makeup and strange hair in Panem. You can imagine how disorienting that would be, right?

How SHE ever thought SHE was the Katniss Everdeen in this scenario is part and parcel of the disconnect which in large part led to these election results.

That's not even the most ironic part about the column, though.

What's a Katniss Everdeen?
Sounds like a minor character in "Far From The Madding Crowd".

edit- Googled it. Probably should do that more often...

I'm getting a little sick of people putting “splaining" on the end of words now.

Why do you get so pissed off at other people's opinions? It's an opinion piece!

Who's pissed off? I think the obliviousness is hilarious. :2razz:

It's my opinion of her opinion. I don't need or have the slightest interest in your approval to state it, so there we go.

She felt like Katniss Everdeen Tuesday morning? That could be taken many ways --- several of which are negative toward the current administration. And the Wednesday morning metaphor makes little sense too.

I bet she had no trouble separating Bill Clinton's misogyny from his politics

Maybe she's just really big into archery

It sort of reminds me of when people who ARE the power still claim to be "speaking truth to power."

You copied a paragraph from a Washington Post opinion piece, complained about it out of context and titled the thread, this may be the dumbest thing I have ever read.
Despite your thread not adding anything of value to whatever point you are trying to make. You do sound a little pissed. There are better ways to talk about what you are trying to talk about without crapping over someone's poor use of an analogy.

I actually had to read the paragraph several times, one would think writers would write better,
but I think I see what she is talking about.
She went to bed on Tuesday thinking that as a Hillary supporter she was part of the change revolution,
only to wake up Wednesday morning to find out her side lost, and were actually the big Government insiders.

Do you know you're on a debate forum? It's what we do. We look at news articles, opinion pieces, videos, audio from radio shows -- and we provide our own opinions. If you don't like Harshaw's opinion, counter it with your own. Don't just sit and whine about the very thing this forum was created for.

I still don't get what the hell made her feel like Katness Everdeen before the election and why it would be different now?

Remember that time when I told you I had no interest in your approval? Good times.

Hilarious that she thinks that Hillary would've been revolutionary.

Yeah. Which is what's hilarious about it.

Perhaps she was hungry..... and then she ate.

Yeah shame on her, jennifer lawrence is probably way hotter than her.

I get what you mean.

;)

I think perhaps she lives in her own private bubble!
Everything entering or leaving the bubble is altered by her preconceived notions.

At first I thought the same thing. But you'd think that now, as long as she saw herself as some kind of mythical heroine, she could REALLY feel like Katness Everdeen and not care who knows it.
Maybe even join a few rent-a-mob actions to make a few bucks.

The problem is, I do not think anyone here disagrees that her analogy is a poor one!
