So, let's stipulate that some on the fringe left started asking questions... Why then, did the right-wing, and in particular Donald J Trump, pick up what was obviously a flat ball and run with it? And what makes you think that those on the fringe left didn't just set bait!!.

Having said that; is it your position that those on the right were too stupid and gullible to actually research that rumor like BEFORE they spread it around and took charge of it like it was smoking gun?

Wouldn't need to do a "new fact" check because this has been around forever and I seem to recall that it was previously accepted that birtherism spawned from somewhere around Hillary.

I don't agree that it was previously accepted that birtherism came directly from Clinton or her campaign. Birtherism was spawned by her whacko supporters, not her and not from her campaign. It was addressed again in 2015 because it surfaced again, in 2015.
In an interview on June 29, Sen. Ted Cruz said “the whole birther thing was started by the Hillary Clinton campaign in 2008,” and earlier this year, Donald Trump claimed “Hillary Clinton wanted [Obama’s] birth certificate. Hillary is a birther.”
Neither Cruz nor Trump presented any evidence that Clinton or anyone on her campaign ever questioned Obama’s birthplace, demanded to see his birth certificate, or otherwise suggested that Obama was not a “natural born citizen” eligible to serve as president.

to prove someone is lying you have to prove they knew what they said is false. that is something few people actually get or at least demonstrate they understand. I believe someone can honestly believe that the clinton campaign fueled the fires of the birther conspiracy

how do you prove that something was started by her supporters and not her campaign. at what point is there a line between the two? did hillary come out and vigorously denounce it? I don't think its as clear as you and some of the other Hillary supporters claim it is. and the fact remains, while it was a stupid angle to attack Obama on, Obama himself helped fuel the fires of this conspiracy theory

Yep, there is absolutely no link between supporters of a candidate and the candidate (or their staff) even when Clinton says that there are (50%?) "deplorable" folks supporting Trump so Trump (and his staff) must be attracting them. ;)

This is a provable lie. There is no evidence that Hillary Clinton or her campaign started the birther conspiracy. Many of Donald Trump's lies are provable as lies because we have his words on video and audio recordings. However, that is not the topic of this thread, so let's not go there.

If they believe that, let them, but there is no proof of it and if they say she did, they are lying.

But that is not the point being made by the left. You and everyone else claimed it was a lie that it started in the Hillary Clinton campaign. Now that is turning out to be true so now you are changing your original argument and focusing on the fact that Trump "picked it up and ran with it". Ok fine, but he just made his position crystal clear "Obama was born in the U.S. period." Not much more to say about it, so you can continue to beat this issue to death because you have nothing else or we can move on to more serious issues.

Post them.

Obamas, of course, are not 'sealed'. They are transcripts, and I'm sure he's provided them on request to many.
