The complete guide to fleeing President Donald Trump's America

I am from PEI, living in AB now, and we are only here because the grandchildren are here. Daughter- SIL planning to sell and move there, so we will follow. Looking at the Hammond Plains- Upper Tantallon areas. A few relatives live there. It is close to home.

Hammonds Plains is pretty good, expanded so much since I first moved to Halifornia 10 years ago.

Just have to watch which subdivisions you get into and how far down you are.

Couple of the offshoots have old as hell houses, pretty crummy.

Pockwock is thought of as a bit of a "Gangsta" territory.

Kingswood is a nice area, houses are 1.8 million square miles apart from eachother.

I would say closer to Bedford is a plus because it gives you the ability to get into Town or Dartmouth pretty quick because I don't know if they ever got around to expanding it but Hammonds Plains Rd. was in bad shape with traffic because it was a two way one lane each.

Depending on how old you grandkids are, CPA is a better high school than Sir John A (there's a cutoff point somewhere on Hammonds Plains road for the two).

Been looking at relatively newer construction. Yes Kingswood has some nice large properties. I like that. We may just rent, I am 59 this month, and have no interest in upgrading another house.

Geez, maybe I'll vote for that sumbich after all.

What a glorious opportunity.
Complete guide to fleeing President Donald Trump's America - NY Daily News

To be fair, not one of the people you quoted said they would definitely move.

The one who came closest was Jackson, but the text reads, "If that motherf----- becomes President, I'll move my black ass to South Africa," he joked on Jimmy Kimmel when asked if Trump had a shot at the White House."

"joked" being the important word...

Cool.
Not THE Island, Texada Island. It's the biggest of the Gulf Islands, and nearly the hardest to get to from Vancouver. Three ferries and most of the day, but when you get here you know you've left the city behind.

In some ways you have left modern civilization behind, it is indeed the 'good life'. If I could I would move to Hornby Island; neither Denman nor Hornby have any police....it's all hippies
Three ferries? It's only two if you go via Vancouver Island. But three if you go the most beautifully scenic route across the Skookumchuk Narrows and have lunch in the unspoiled little town of Lund. Texada also has some of the best diving spots in the straight.

If I did it again, I might move to Lasqueti Island. No ferry, off the grid, and they like it that way.

Only two ferries from Vancouver via Vancouver Island if you swim from Powell River to Texada! (grin!)
Lund is definitely a good place for lunch- best fish and chips on the Sunshine Coast are at that place on the boardwalk. Well, that's a big claim- best I've had, anyway.

I'm Originally from South Africa.

Grew up a bit in Halifornia, NS

Lived in Tarana and Vantown for a bit as well.

If it helps my Nova Scotian cred at all I'm quite the Stan Rogers fan.

Guessing your out on The Island.

What abut Matt Minglewood???

Didn't Alec Baldwin and Rosie O'Donnell say they were going to do this if Bush won? He won and they didn't move.

We don't want them either- And now the Bad news- Justin Bieber is applying for US citizenship.
For those among DP that are atheists, please pray this application is approved. That and he renounces his Canadian citizenship as well.

I looked it up- absolutely beautiful.

I don't actually disagree with Whoopi though people threaten to leave the country all the time.
Wasn't Alec Baldwin supposed to live somewhere else once Bush was elected.
O'Reily will be in Ireland if Sanders is elected.
I think Trump, himself, vowed to move somewhere if Obama was elected "way back when".

Nobody leaves as far as I can tell.

Horseshoe Bay to Nanaimo, drive to Powell River, ferry to Texada.

Me, I'm stuck in the city, but I have close friends on Galiano

He's yours. He renounced his Canadian citizenship, to a national sigh of relief, and once we've cleared them out of the basement we don't let them back in the kitchen door. Rodents, I mean.
Don't make us build a wall, we'll bill you for it.

Is there even a vehicle to do that?

We are after all the one that granted citizenship to an infant born on an international flight while it was over Canadian airspace.

No, Powell River's on the mainland. You have to drive to Comox and get the ferry to Powell River. That's a common mistake.
Every few years some politician decides to look into pushing a road through from Squamish to Powell River, but probably won't happen in my lifetime. Pretty rough country through there.

Sorry, I meant Campbell River. Is there not a ferry from Vancouver Island? Either I am senile or there was as I seem to remember a Scuba diving trip where we left Campbell River to Texada

Nah, you never took a ferry from Campbell River to Texada, or even Powell River. Diving charter boat out of Campbell River, maybe. Quadra Island ferry leaves Campbell River and from Quadra you get the boat to Whaletown on Cortes Island.
There was a couple weeks earlier this year when BC Ferries (don't get me started!) had our usual boat elsewhere and the Comox-Powell River ferry was stopping in at Blubber Bay on Texada. Worked good but it was only four sailings a day so they had a water taxi for walk-ons also.
If you dove off Texada you might have been at Mouat Rocks or even Shelter Point, which is just 3K from our place.

Yeah, it's a great place to live. Not much for work, you have to be versatile and creative, but we don't need much money to live here anyway.

It was over 25 years ago, so memory is questionable. I do recall the diving there was fantastic, at the time I don't think there had been much diving there.

For the record I was born in rural Ontario, a small town called Elora. Was raised and educated in the US. I started my radio career in Kitchener and it took me all across Southern Ontario to Montreal to Regina to Vancouver. Quebec is the most ****ed up, the Maritimes and prairies the friendliest and BC the most beautiful.

I have nothing but contempt for rich celebrities who threaten to leave the US over presidential election results. It does nothing but hurt their reputation. It's like an executive taking a golden parachute and abandoning a failing company. The rich will be rich regardless of who is president. The poor and middle class don't have that option.

You suck. I like you but you suck. We don't want the little snark. Maybe I should move to Canada close to you and call you for coffee at four in the morning.

All I can do is offer my sympathies to the American public.
Meanwhile in Canada......

Keep rubbing it in. You would think the guy would learn after getting his ass kicked a few times but NOOOOOOO.

Well we ain't taking Cruz back, no how, no way. Keep him.

You won't take Boober...i mean Bieber back, and now you want take Cruz back?

Less bad. I was trying to trade him for Ryan Kesler for awhile but for some reason no joy there. If that kid's career crashes he's liable to make some coke dealer very rich.

If Al Sharpton does move to Canada, i will feel sorry for them. They'll have to deal with that fraudulant, race baiting extortionist.
