Supposedly founded to publish "fearless adversarial journalism," The Intercept has been caught publishing fabrications. The lies concerned Donald Trump and Dylan Roof, among others. Retractions followed.

News site The Intercept says reporter created fake quotes, sources
The Intercept is apologizing to readers after an investigation revealed one of its reporters fabricated multiple quotes and even created a fake email address for a source to deceive his editors.
The online news site is retracting and correcting several articles by former staff writer Juan Thompson, who was employed there from November 2014 until last month.
In a note issued earlier today, editor Betsy Reed revealed some details of the results of the investigation to readers:

Yawn..Imagine the horror that a unscrupulous reporter might have wrongly besmirched the pristine image of Dylan Roof or Donald Trump. Like I care. I never even heard of the "The Intercept" either.

The fabricated race-baiting articles hurt everyone. Lies tend to do that. It's even worse when riots are erupting and race relations are turning to ****.

There definitely were some untruths told when it came to Ferguson. In fact, it would not be a stretch to say the whole Black Lives Matter movement was built on lies. "Hands up; don't shoot."

Unfortunately, there are a lot of people, on the Left, who say that the lies do not matter, it's the racism that counts. Well, I don't buy that.

I'm afraid it is the GOP that has made lies the centerpiece of their attacks on both Hillary and Obama. From the "stand down orders" to the non existent damning emails the whole Benghazi case was based on lies and misdirection. Then we have Trump who has taken his lies to the front of the GOP field because that is what your base likes to hear most

That's the problem. Supporters in both parties defend the lies their people tell.
