Morton Downey Junior was a shock Jock for television talk in 1988 and lasted only a year. If you are too young to know this guy you need to see what was happening in TV Talk back in 1988. "The Father of Trash TV" as he was know was as rude and obnoxious as there has eve r been on the tube. The tittle of the documentary is "Evocatuer: The Morton Downey Jr. Movie" and what you will see is hilarious, shocking and hateful and you will recognize some of the guests like Al Sharpton. Probably, the KKK, Strippers for God and far righties and far lefties. I recall one episode about the dangers of smoking and Downing insulted and harassed the guest by blowing smoke all over and bragging how much he smoked. Morton Downing Jr. died of lung canners in 2001. Make a point to watch this.

Knew he existed but didn't care or watch then, I guess I still don't.

In 1996, Downey was diagnosed with lung cancer and had one of his lungs removed. He did a complete about-face on the issue of tobacco use, going from a one-time member of the National Smokers Alliance to a staunch anti-smoking activist.[41] He continued to speak against smoking until his death from lung cancer in 2001.[42]

After being diagnosed with lung cancer, he commented, "I had spawned a generation of kids to think it was cool to smoke a cigarette. Kids walked up to me until a matter of weeks ago, they'd have a cigarette in their hand and they'd say, 'Hey, Mort,' or, 'Hey, Mouth, autograph my cigarette.' And I'd do it."[2] He also blamed tobacco companies for lying to consumers about cigarettes.[2]
