Now all 16 candidates will debate.

Fox lowers threshold for early debate - Mike Allen - POLITICO

Fox News is opening its 5 p.m. debate to all the announced Republican candidates who fail to make the cut for the Aug. 6 prime-time event, removing a requirement that participants reach at least 1 percent in polling.
The change amounts to an insurance policy for candidates who were in danger of being disqualified from the vital first debate based on low polls – Carly Fiorina, former New York Gov. George Pataki and Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.).

The announcement by Michael Clemente, Fox News Executive Vice President, News, means that all 16 announced candidates will qualify for Cleveland — either the 5 p.m. undercard, or the 9 p.m. main event.
The 9 p.m. debate will include the 10 candidates with the highest average in national polls, as determined by Fox News. The 5 p.m. forum will now include all the rest.
According to a POLITICO analysis of the latest national polling, the prime-time participants today would be Donald Trump, Jeb Bush, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.), Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), Mike Huckabee, Ben Carson, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and Rick Perry.

Re: Fox lowers threshold for early debate

Sounds like a typical affirmative action deal to me. Yes it is indeed bias but it is "good" bias because it lets the disadvantaged candidates get some (separate but equal?) free air time too. It is the either or part that makes it really biased since the "prime" (top 10) candidates may end up with less airtime (and different questions) than the (bottom 6) "subprime" candidates. Just doing the math it seems likely that 6 folks sharing 60 minutes is more air time than 10 folks sharing 90 minutes.

Re: Fox lowers threshold for early debate

What did FoxNews do wrong this time, or are they not offering the same thing to Democrats (as if they would show up anyway?)

Re: Fox lowers threshold for early debate

I find this quite humorous to be honest. Their coverage directly reflects who gets what ratings in polling. If the network decides to totally ignore capable candidates, people don't know who they are, so it is hard to get their poll numbers up. Instead they have clowns up on stage that get tons of media time because of their absurdity. Imagine where we might be if networks focused on substance instead of who the biggest loon is.

I won't watch if Pataki and Kasich can't play in the primetime sandbox.

Re: Fox lowers threshold for early debate

I will vote for who ever eats a live baby duck on stage.

Re: Fox lowers threshold for early debate

Hm.

Why do I get the feeling there's not going to be much time for inter-candidate banter?

If it were a human baby you'd be voting democrat.

What an amazingly stupid and awful thing to say.

Re: Fox lowers threshold for early debate

Fox has really been pushing the duds lately....I dont get to watch it much anymore unfortunately, but when Ive caught a few of the shows it has been Graham and the fat ****ing liberal dickface Christie.

Perry was on The Five today....he isnt too bad, and would probably make a decent President...but he is pretty much a dud.

And a completely factually accurate thing to say as well.

:agree: Since I'm an Ohioan, and since Kasich is our Governor, and he is a candidate, I think he belongs in the 9:00 primetime group, especially since the debates are being held in Cleveland, Ohio. The Repubs need Ohio and Florida to win, and they have two Floridas - Rubio is a Florida Senator and Jeb Bush was Governor in Florida - but no Ohio? Why? They must have their reasons, but I may send them an e-mail anyway. I like Pataki very much, too.

WSUwarrior admits he thinks Democrats eat babies.

Well done.

Re: Fox lowers threshold for early debate

10 is also too many for my liking, but what can you do? Half of the Republican Party wanted to run this time. When they have the debates last only 2 hours, you get very little by way of anything meaningful. If it was 4 hours long, that would be more interesting, but also too long for most people.

Re: Fox lowers threshold for early debate

my top 5 i want to hear from

Walker
Rubio
Kasich
Paul
and Trump....i want to see how he does on the big stage against the other candidates

They do. Served warm and crunchy from the planned parenthood kitchens.

They say people taste like chicken. From this we can derive that babies also taste like chicken. Perhaps like baby chickens?

No, they just butcher them before they get to take their first breath, then sell the body parts for profit.

Last I knew this thread was about Fox and Presidential Candidates. Not abortion. Stick to the topic.
