How many people need to die in a foreign terrorist attack to be the top story?

Top story on CNN right now is about Trump's politically incorrect remarks. Meanwhile yesterday, 31 dead and over 100 injured in a terrorist bombing in Turkey. That is more or less on par with the Boston Marathon bombing and there is virtually no coverage of this. What is really more important in the world right now?

Infrastructure is way more important. We should be treating way and terrorism as old news. :2razz:

On a slow day?

But in earnest. The ISIS attack on Turkey could be considered to invoke a NATO Article 5. I do not think they will, but they probably could. What would be interesting to see would be the reactions to it in Berlin, Paris and other members' capitals.

It's hard to say. Welcome to DP.

American news focuses on events in America.

Top stories are only those stories that benefit the Democrat Party. Actual newsworthy events are given little consideration.

I love how every week it switches back and forth between "LIBRUL MEDIA IN THE TANK FOR OBAMA" and "LIBRUL MEDIA TURNING ON OBAMA"

Why would a foreign news story be the top story on an American news broadcast?

We are getting to the point where a foregin country needs to be nuked off the face of the earth to tie for top story with a sentence that Donald Trump said.

If Americans are involved then it would be a top story. This is an American News station and they report what is important to American citizens.

Sure it is bad when a terrorist blows up a lot of people in a foreign, but it is not a top news story in the US, unless you are talking about CNN International or a station like that.

Why would you think it would be, I am just curious.

People already covered it, but eh, it'll get covered in US news when Americans are among the dead. Til then, the ABC/NBC/CBS/CNN/Fox/etc. aren't really going to care, at best it gets a 30 second mention. Have to turn to international news if really interested in that stuff (Al Jazeera, BBC are the main ones that can be found on cable TV that I know of). Being Turkey I'd especially suspect that Al Jazeera gave it at least a few minutes.

It's very sad. Its as if 1 million foreign lives = 1 american life.

Not at all. All you need is for the killers to be white Christian males. Pointing out fundamentalist Muslim terror acts is a no no.

The media shows what people want to see. This is how they get ratings and make money. They wouldn't exist otherwise. And sadly a large number of Americans don't even know there is a country called Turkey.

Can you please call the Delaware News Journal and ask them why they think it's more important to report Delaware news on such a regular basis and almost completely ignore what's happening in Wyoming? Priorities man...priorities.
