Fox for the Left?

Fox can't be trusted because they lie all the time. It has nothing to do with their lean. Lean is fine. Political neutrality is not required for honest news. But actually telling the truth is. That is why you cannot equate the left-wing sources in the OP with Fox. They tell the truth. Fox seldom does.

MSNBC trying to link loughner shooter to right wing

andrea mitchel of msnbc showing doctored romney videos about ordering from a touch screen

That's off the top of my head.

Do you REALLY believe the left wing media to be 100% truthful?

Really>

Such truth is why I have grown tired of the "prove it" demand veteran posters on the left like to throw out. How many times has the usual Progressive Machine sites been proven to be shading the truth, or outright fabricating stories only to have the poster making the demand disappear?

How many times has Salon been exposed? How many times has the NY Times, or the LA Times, or HuffPo? How much more evidence is required to show that the Tampa Bay Times/PolitiFact skews their ratings, or the Center for Budget and Policy Priorities filters results to forward a Progressive narrative?

Heck, even Google has been caught manipulating their search engines.

Hard to count how many times they all lied or misstated. There aren't pathetic watchdogs who spend all day, every day doing nothing but reading Huffpo or the Times in an attempt to find the occasional mistake or misstatement or lie. The left cornered the market on that ridiculous behavior.

Don't forget one of my personal favorites, when MSNBC intentionally edited the Zimmerman tape to delete out the operator asking him what color Trayvon Martin was, in an effort to make Zimmerman appear to be a racist. That was a gem.

You are making a huge mistake when you seem to equate bias with honesty. Fox News could be biased for conservative causes and be completely honest. But we know they are not honest.

heh heh ... I guess that's as close as we'll ever expect to come to your non-partisanship, Pete ... henceforward we can call such things .......

PETEISANSHIP: Making a partisan point but couching it in an obviously transparent sheen of unbiased analysis.

But I still luvya, Pete ... never change.

And right there we can see the chasm in plain sight before us, in living color. A near perfect examples of both confirmation bias and the 'forgetting it' bias.

I can't get over "Political neutrality is not required for honest news."
- Check me if I'm wrong, but isn't news, the real news, like made of like facts, and only the facts? (attribution to Joe Friday as deemed appropriate)

Of course we've not even touched on the second order bias at the editor / producer level; the decisioning of which stories are covered, and how, and where in the program or publican they are presented, or if they are presented at all. Similar to the HW not commenting on the murder in San Francisco.

The reality is that anybody who still believes Fox is real news at this point is a true believer and nothing is ever going to sway them. They're gone for good. Their ideas of which outlets are credible and which are not come exclusively from Fox. Fox tells them not just what they should believe, but also who they should use to confirm that belief, and gives them strict instructions not to listen to anybody outside the cult.

It is a completely different world in that bubble. On a day when normal people would say that the biggest news event of the day was new jobs numbers or progress or a setback in the Iran negotiations or whatever, Fox "News" viewers have spent the entire day watching breathless crisis-style breaking news coverage of a state legislator in Idaho who introduced a bill to take the manger scene out of the capitol building and they've been listening to panicked pundits alerting them of the impending war on Christians and giving them tips about how to arm themselves for the impending attacks.

They absolutely lie. Search my username and media matters, I've listed them before. They lied to get thier 501c3 status. They lie by ommission constantly, and basically are a george soros talking point machine for the democrat party.

And I'm not sure wich DP you are reading, those sites are used far less than MSNBC, MM, and other far left kook sites.

Oookay.

Ah ... you raise the names of the 2 major Times and that brings to mind up another technique that many media outlets employ and it may be the most significant given how many of our citizens already don't know s**t, have no problem with that condition, yet still vote.

The technique of which I speak is strategic non-reporting of selected news items.

It's not outright lying or misinformation ... it's really the equivalent of political hush money ... they just don't report the stuff that will make their team look bad.

Tell you what Rev, heres a challenge for you goto to their website Media Matters for America or their blog Media Matters for America and show us all where they lie.

No, not only. It is not some kind of horrible thing for a journalist to tell you how they feel about the facts. So long as they do not distort the facts or omit significant details, they're perfectly free to tell you how they feel. Rachel Maddow, for example, does this a great deal. She will tell you how she feels about it. But she makes absolutely clear what is fact and what is feeling. I don't object to that at all. I object to when all you get is feeling, rhetorical techniques, and outright lies. That's what Fox does.

Of course we've not even touched on the second order bias at the editor / producer level; the decisioning of which stories are covered, and how, and where in the program or publican they are presented, or if they are presented at all. There isn't time (or interest) to cover everything. How do YOU think that a news organization should decide what to discuss and what not to? And by your standards, it would be bias to have any position whatsoever on that question.

Do you REALLY believe the left wing media to be 100% truthful?

No. Just mostly truthful. As opposed to Fox which is mostly not truthful. These are not a matter of belief. These are facts. I know that you have a problem with facts and like to relegate any position to mere belief so that you can paint it as arbitrary, but some positions are actually supported by facts. We call them the correct ones. Try having a position supported by the facts sometime. Once you start, it'll be hard to stop.

Very good point Bubba. Another verifiable truth.

Which Fox News shows do you watch?

None regularly, but I've certainly seen most of them at least once. It isn't like it takes you long to see what they're up to. The stink is immediately overwhelming to normal people in there.

LOL It wasn't about the touch screen, it was about the name of the restaurant, it is "Wawa" not "Wawas" as Romney constantly called it.

Do you consider lying-by-omission to be equally as bad as outright lying?

Do you consider lying-by-omission to be equally as bad as outright lying?

It depends on the result, I suppose. The point is to avoid deception. If an omission truly obscures the truth, then it is just as bad.

I agree that Fox is just as bad, but is it possible that Fox gets busted more often because there are simply oodles of outlets chomping at the bit whose aim is specifically to bust them? Most outlets on the Left aren't going to be interested in busting other outlets on the Left, for example.Fox does "bust" Left outlets, too, but nobody except Fox adherents give it any credibility.
There is probably some truth to that.
