The Rise of Megyn Kelly

She's got to learn to stop moving her eyes reading off the prompter...

Other than that, she's not bad, but I don't think she's all that, either...

They do? Huh. I never noticed that. I haven't really been reading the NYT much lately, though. I'm more into the WaPo these days.

Neh - I'm in the loop.

I should put quotes around that so it looks more ominous: I am in "the loop".

This really says a lot:

That Wednesday, like most weeknights since her show debuted in 2013, she beat all of her cable-news competitors. Her audience of 2.8 million was four times as large as Rachel Maddow’s on MSNBC and six times larger as that of “Somebody’s Gotta Do It,” the Mike Rowe program on CNN about people who devote their lives to odd passions. In fact, “The Kelly File” was the highest-rated nonsports program in her time slot in all of basic cable in 2014.

She really made her mark in 2010, when Fox made the decision to let Kelly host the election coverage. Even I was surprised how absolutely brilliant she was that night. Her straight forward, take-charge, unbiased approach and professionalism put her head and shoulders above every other election coverage host on every other network. I knew right then she was destine to make it big.

I see your back to stalking me again... It's really rather pathetic that you can't come up with one coherient thought on the topic, so you resort to unprovoked attacks instead.

You poor, poor victim Grim.

The NYT throwing in with FNC.

If you noticed, the article was mostly about the overall success and talent of Megyn Kelly (who happens to work for Fox News now) in her carreer and about her (rather amazing?) rise to the top of the television news (entertainment?) media personality list. Not all in the media cheer for (or even notice) only those with the same political lean. I see no bias in recognizing individual talent as even though I disagree with most of Obama's ideas his poitical career, leading to a 2 term POTUS, reflects a considerable talent which I clearly recognize.

Very well. I found it interesting that the NYT lined up with FNC and wrote so positively about MK. Call it a remarkable lack of bias.

She's a fake blonde.

She's a fake blonde.

Her law degree is real.

And how do you know that her hair isn't really blonde? And why do you care?

The New York Times Magazine has decided to promote Megyn Kelly. Who knew?

The Megyn Kelly Moment - Jim Rutenberg, New York Times Magazine

". . . For those unfamiliar with the phenomenon, a Megyn moment, as I have taken to calling it, is when you, a Fox guest — maybe a regular guest or even an official contributor — are pursuing a line of argument that seems perfectly congruent with the Fox worldview, only to have Kelly seize on some part of it and call it out as nonsense, maybe even turn it back on you. You don’t always know when, how or even if the Megyn moment will happen; Kelly’s political sensibility and choice of subjects are generally in keeping with that of the network at large. But you always have to be ready for it, no matter who you are. Neither Karl Rove nor Dick Cheney have been spared their Megyn moments, nor will the growing field of 2016 presidential aspirants, who can look forward to two years of interrogation on “The Kelly File.” The Megyn moment has upended the popular notion of how a Fox News star is supposed to behave, and led to the spectacle of a Fox anchor winning praise from the very elites whose disdain Fox has always welcomed. In the process, Kelly’s program has not just given America’s top-rated news channel its biggest new hit in 13 years; it has demonstrated an appeal to the younger and (slightly) more ideologically diverse demographic Fox needs as it seeks to claim even more territory on the American journo-political landscape. . . ."

I've noticed a change in Megyn Kelly.
She's been more sarcastic in facial & vocal expressions.
I liked her better when she was more flat out no bull****.

Yes, they really have. She's had her stupid moments, who hasn't? But on the whole, she's a really good interviewer, she generally knows her stuff and she doesn't toe the FOX party line.

I agree with you 100%. If I was young again (I'm not....I'm 52!) Megyn Kelly would be one of my idols and the kind of woman I would strive to be like. She's very smart, she's unbelievably articulate, she's pretty independent, she's tough yet sweet at the same time, she's got a great grasp on her subject matter, and so on.

She's a fake blonde.

No she isn't.

I don't agree with Megyn Kelly much, but I recognize she is a great talent. I don't understand why you think the NYT couldn't be objective in the evaluation of her.

I do not recall previous positive treatment of FNC in the NYT.

If you do something good, you'll likely get positive treatment, if you do something bad, you're likely will get bad treatment.

My recollection is that too often the NYT gives bad treatment to good deeds.

No she isn't.

Not that it matters, but you can see it in the part. Your photo only proves that she's been dyeing for a number of years.

But really, does it matter? "Well, she dyes her hair, so obviously she can't be a serious person???" John Boehner dyes his whole body, so...
