NYT Edits Out Bundy Making Pro-Black, Pro-Mexican Comments

I don't care what he said as it attains to percentages. I made the statement that more White people are receiving govt subsidies than Black people, he is unable to disprove that fact.

Again, why does that actual number matter in the grand scheme of things? I may have missed it, but I did not see a post were he said otherwise.

Addressing the number you are fixated on is only relevant if your overall concern is saving tax dollars. I am more concerned with the numbers as shown by Excon. It shows an issue that should be addressed out of concern for lives rather than tax dollars. Or was this particular thread an exercise in scoring debate points?

No, the context doesn't free him. They comparison, the reference should not have been made in that context. Making it defines the person. And yes, a racist could and often does say such things. They know the world they live in.
No a racist does not freely say such things.
Context matters. And the there is nothing to free him from. False claims of racism are just that, false claims of racism.

Sure they do. It's not all or nothing. You may not what to go back for all kinds of reasons (like covering your rear end), but the comparison tells the tell.

Wrong.
Accurate observations of racism.

You can't point to a lack of knowledge in anything I have said...hence the resort to insults.
:doh ILOL
You received no insult.

No they don't. Or maybe you skipped over the word "freely".

Wrong.
Accurate observations of racism.
Will wonders never cease.
You are wrong again.
Nothing he said was racist. It was not of hatred, intolerance or disparaging.

Okay, I'm done with excon but let me see if I understand what you are saying.

You say that you are concerned with lives yet you would ignore the group of people that number the highest when it comes to receiving particular govt subsidies?
Why are you more concerned with excon's numbers?

No they don't. Or maybe you skipped over the word "freely".

Skipped nothing. There is no excusing his comment. None. Try reading my flirts response to this thread. It details another thing he said.

Convoluted ? No.
Clear observation and logic ...yes.
Who the f**k are "they" he continuously references?
He prefaces them as "The negro" and "Those Spanish people" .
Racism.
No they weren't.
And if you do not know that he used the word "they" appropriately, you have real issues to fix on your end.
It wasn't racist.
It wasn't disparaging, It was not born of hatred or intolerance.
Stop making false claims.

Aren't you the same poster who called me a racist in another thread, and had to be corrected by other posters who know I am not a racist? Why yes, yes you are.

There is no excuse needed for anything he said.
It wasn't racist.
It was not disparaging or born of hatred or intolerance.
It simple wasn't racist.

Sure it was. From post 84:

So, you wanted them to add, "they have nothing to do. They haven't learned to pick cotton"?

Yep, he's truly non racist. Not. I'm sorry you want to excuse him, but your efforts just don't do it. There is no excuse.

You having a lack of knowledge is not an insult but a factual statement.
I was going to use the word "ignorance" but felt that was too big of a word for you to understand, and would have likely resulted in you claiming insult, just like you are now.
Go figure, huh?

When the other person has said they agree that whites should make up a larger number and you keep acting like they didn't say that, that speaks of lack of knowledge in their saying that?
Or do you really know I said that, and were pretending to be ignorant of it?

Yada, yada, the last words of a man drowning. Keep flailing, maybe, just maybe you'll come off as informed and rational.

Done with you, I made a statement and in the end you had to agree with it. At least you had the intellectual honesty to support my statement, too bad you had to ruin it with the pride of the foolish.

No need for further back and forth, you can leave now.

It was specific commenting of an entire race of people "The negro".
That is the way racists speak.
That is racism .
Bundy is a racist.

I have read and viewed Bundy's comment in their un-edited entirety and they are without any doubt racist in nature.
The concept that anyone could speak about an entire race of people without modification is racist.
Bundy did this several times in his prefaces and referred to that every time he used the words "them or they."
Here are his comments bolded and sized relative to the racist meaning and intent.

Ask yourself as you read this Who the F**k are "THEY?
Each time he is referenceing an entire race of people and THAT is racist language.

So instead of saying:

Don’t tell me they don’t work, and don’t tell me they don’t pay taxes. And don’t tell me they don’t have better family structures than most of us white people. When you see those Mexican families, they’re together, they picnic together, they’re spending their time together, and I’ll tell you in my way of thinking they’re awful nice people. And we need to have those people join us and be with us not, not come to our party.

he should have used the words "Mexicans" over and over and over instead of "they", "they're", and "their", because that was all racist?
Thanks for the reminder of what nice things he said about the Mexicans/Spanish people though.

Bundy is a racist.

So when anyone says anything about "The Asians", they're racist?

Plain and simple, there are two ways to go about doing anything. Cliven Bundy chose the wrong way. If he had phrased his comments as "government subsidy is another form of slavery and people need a job to feel worthwhile", this would be a non-issue. That is essentially the gist of his comments.

:lamo:lamo:lamo
In context, you know damn well he was speaking of work ethic.

And because they were basically on government subsidy – so now what do they do? They abort their young children, they put their young men in jail, because they never, they never learned how to pick cotton. And I’ve often wondered are they were better off as slaves, picking cotton and having a family life and doing things? Or are they better off under government subsidy?

It may have been a bad analogy to make the point, but in context, he was speaking of work ethic.

Aren't you the same poster who called me a racist in another thread, and had to be corrected by other posters who know I am not a racist? Why yes, yes you are.

Actually you should go back and read my response. I backed my statement up, the other poster gave his opinion, which I respect. In my short time here he has seemed to be fair and objective.

You, not so much.

It must be nice to be a newbie with 72 posts, most of them whining, and know all about a poster with 3600+ posts.

I read your response. It was whiny. Which is why it was ignored.

Do you usually contradict yourself??...actually you are coming off like a whiny woman.

If you read my response then it wasn't ignored, don't use words you don't fully comprehend.

3600+ posts...how many of those did you contradict yourself in...oh don't bother.

Now if you need to discuss that thread go back to that thread and I'll call you a racist again.

No. If he was speaking of specific individuals he should have prefaced them as such and then referred to those specific individuals with the word "they".
Whenever Bundy used the word "they" he was referencing "The negro " and "Spanish people" from his own preface.
Nice or negative. To speak in specific terms about an entire race is racist.
People are individuals not monolithic groups. The more one generalizes about a race the more racist their speech is.

Why are you more concerned with excon's numbers?

Because the numbers show an issue/issues affecting a segment of society disproportionately. Do they not show that?

So let's say we address the fact that there are more caucasians and implement measures to reduce those numbers. Realistically, those measures would also affect African Americans on subsidies as well. But the disparity shown in Excons post would still exist; A higher percentage of African Americans would still be receiving subsidies out of proportion to the demographics.
