Rush demands Rush Limbaugh stop using their music on his show

Sure they say crazy things. But if it's outrageous misogyny for one, then it's so for the other, and . . . that word . . . is much worse than "slut" or "whore."

The reason you left off that he claims she also is a "prostitute," which is a criminal accusation.

Santorum is a lawyer too, specifically a Washington DC lobbyist lawyer by profession.

I see your point, but you are again losing context. People say horrible things about famous people and politicians all of the time and it is accepted in society.

Exactly not one of those defending Rush - limiting it to "slut" offers ANY defense to saying she's a prostitute. The sex 3 times a day is stupid math. She didn't say that and it is ignorant because birth control pills/patchs are indifferent to how many times - once a month - and INTELLIGENT women rely on BOTH hormonal birth control AND condoms.
So Rush's ignorant and false slander of calling her a "prostititute" and a "slut," is overall based on ignorance in general.

If she is burning through 3 grand a year in contraception...she IS a slut...and lets hope a HAPPY slut. Its pretty pathetic that people insist someone ELSE pay for their recreational activities.

Apparently even though she is still employed at the same job she has had for a while now, she can no longer "afford" over 3 grand in contraceptive cost and "afford" her second degree at George Town Law School for some reason aside from activism. Clearly she is at a disadvantage so time for everyone else to pony up and George Town to stop victimizing her with their religious values. Evil Catholic Bastards. I guess I should be hearing a Rush song in the background of this thread, only for some reason I'm hearing Mel Brooks music.

I used to love listening to Rush the band. I saw them twice in concert when I was a teenager. I remember the drum solo being amazing. Great band.

And I listen to Rush the political commentator, because I find the discussion interesting. He makes politics interesting. And I am pretty sure Rush can use short pieces of band's songs without permission, and he will continue to do so.

And Sarah Palin is a public figure with a record of vindictiveness and her own brand of nastiness, attacking people from her position of power and with the backing of Fox News. She's a person of low character and intellect who runs her mouth. Comedians will portray her as stupid and call her names. That is their job.

The defense of Limbaugh as just being 'absurd' is retarded. He's not Howard Stern. Not that bright.

He's right though. Rush is a political commentator, not a comedian. This "I was only kidding" nonsense he pulls every time he gets in trouble is lame. Someone should tell him there is a reason no one is laughing - YOU'RE NOT FUNNY! :)

No he isnt. Bill Maher is just a comedian...that has happened to run a politically motivated show on ABC since the mid 90s and now a politically driven show on HBO since 2003 that hosts 4 politically motivated guests every episode to discuss political issues...

And his fans always defend Limbaugh like he's P.J. O'Rourke -- you know, smart and funny.

Limbaugh does a daily rant focusing on negativity that appeals to people who need that kind of thing in their life. The most shocking thing about Limbaugh is that people actually listen to him. IMO, it's evidence of a sickness in our society.

Well Bill Maher is actually a comedian, but he has accepted the role of political commentator. So for that reason, I'll give you that. However, you have to lend some creedence to the situation and who he was calling a slut. He wasn't calling Nancy Pelosi a slut or Hillary Clinton. In fact, in the past he has called Pelosi a terrorist and he has called Clinton a "screaming witch". But there is a difference between those:

Clinton, Pelosi, Palin, etc... all political celebrities who have put themselves out there in the spotlight for their careers. We as a nation have said it is ok to say terrible things about our celebrities. That's not the same as ripping on anyone who has passion and tries to make a difference just because they happen to disagree with your values. It's unfortunate that you can't see the difference.

What "difference" am I missing? And "disagreeing with my values"? I'm pretty sure I'm the one who's condemning the bad behavior of both, regardless of "values," and it's you who are trying to draw a distinction for some reason or another.

Misogyny is misogyny, no matter who it's against or who says it. There are no qualifiers.

Look I don't even watch Bill Maher... so I don't really care. I just see the difference between a comedian calling a famous woman a **** and a guy who has serious influence over politics - a real political pundit who people listen to - who calls an activist a slut because she disagrees with him. There has to be a line in the sand, amiright?

Take Bill Maher off the air and it won't affect me since I have never once watched his show, but there is definitely a difference.
