people arrested and atacked for not standing for anthem

If a majority of the people in America hated America I would have to think twice before I stood for the national anthem or saluted the flag.

Maybe the America haters would beat me up and I would have to decide if I wanted to offend immigrants and liberal/progressive/undisclosed Americans that much

Thankfully we have not declined that far yet and it is the America haters who are the minority and risk the bloody nose instead

Im saying that if America were a far left society all this talk of free speech would be forgotten and no burning of the flag or even whispers against the soviet would be permitted

To most Americans including assholes like kapernick the national anthem is more than just "a song."

He would not get any attention if he sat down during a hip hop tune.

But I have only one vote and the decision is up to society as a whole

However I think it is harder to justify forcing someone to do something against tbeir will than it is to prohibit them from doing something

As for treating people as equals, once again you cannot avoid discrimination and favoritism because of human nature. As long as there is a majority and a minority, the minority will always have less practical rights and you will have resentment, anger, conflicts, etc. All the more if you their cultures greatly differ, like Muslims and non-Muslims. The best you can hope is to belong to the majority and to enjoy conditions that will shield yourself from the minority's anger.

Moreover you claim that a liberal model is the solution, but you fail to realize it is western. Muslims on the other hand want an illiberal Islamic civilization. Therefore your solution is actually an attempt to impose by force your civilizational ideal to people who want something else. You are actually taking side in the conflict: the side of your ethnic group.

the Hindus dont seem any better then the Muslims and i know its possible for people to be concerned wiht the rights of others so human nature may be a huge obstacle at times but its not a deal breaker

Don't let this devolve into another Flag Burning thread, keep it on target.

For this topic, it's pretty sick, IMO, what's going on in India. Makes me glad that here in America, we merely get upset at an athlete who kneels during the anthem, but that we don't have laws and people aren't out assaulting others for it. It sees to me to be a gross abuse of judicial power, but I am not familiar with India's system, they obviously allow this sort of thing.

Any nation that would value freedom and personal liberty would have to allow those to sit during the anthem. I mean, there are so many other things to police, why even waste the time and money?
