This story is not from the Onion...South Korea to Inflict K-Pop Blasts on Kim Jong Un for Nuke Test - Bloomberg Business

While years of United Nations sanctions and other penalties have failed to bring Kim to heel, one thing that can get under his skin is broadcasts over the demilitarized zone of South Korean ballads and rap music, a genre known as K-pop. The speakers have been used only once in the past decade, for part of August in retaliation for the maiming of two South Korean soldiers by DMZ mines.

That spat escalated into what North Korea called a "semi-state of war" that was cooled by marathon talks at a border village where Kim’s officials agreed to halt the mobilization of forces. One condition was that Seoul turned the speakers off.

"Kim Jong Un isn’t your typical dictator. He’s a god in North Korea, and propaganda broadcasts raise questions among North Koreans about that,” said Park Chang Kwon, a senior research fellow at the state-run Korea Institute for Defense Analyses in Seoul. “Broadcasts from South Korea can reach deep and far into North Korea’s society, imbuing the minds of its people with the images of a free nation and hurting the oppressive personality cult.”

Well this should end well. Response to a nuke test... loudspeaker propaganda blasts, and dropping leaflets... brilliant

(I guess simply calling Kim Jong-un a meanie is not going to cut it.)

Well the truth is there's almost nothing anyone can do about this  unless everyone wants one of the bloodiest wars in a long time.

So... We play k-pop.

If our military would just start playing ultra loud Barry Manilow music while conducting operations we could defeat all our enemies within seconds.

That's how we got Noriega to come out in Panama, except it was acid rock not Barry Manilow. It was hilarious to watch him come out with his fingers in his ears.

Well Little Kimmie doesn't merit an actual invasion (NK has military tractors, for Christ's sake), but he doesn't seem to give a damn about sanctions, so it's probably best to just troll the bastard with pop music, for giggles & ****s if nothing else.

I think it is great. Couldn't do it in the US, as we have laws about cruel and unusual punishment.

Truly, this is trolling at it's finest.

That is generally true of all K-pop. I can just imagine the "singers" sitting in their room, laughing that people payed to hear them make that godaweful noise.

On a somewhat related note, I'm a little disappointed this thread isn't more popular. If there's anything that I agree on with Kim Jung Un, It's that North Korea stories always deserve tons of attention.

This is from last year, but you might get a kick out of it:

Kim is about to finally release videos of the unicorn he found, give it a little while.

He's been holding it in captivity for several years now, trying to breed it with a racing horse he stole from Kentucky in 2005.

Absolutely hilarious! I appreciate the meme, Redress. And David, if this weren't January, I'd say the reemergence of the unicorn story was a Christmas miracle!
