Does North Korea have a hydrogen bomb?!
If so, what are the implications-??? —a nuke war; the new policy resolution for 2016-17; the hypotheticals are endless...

I myself, am unsure [of North Korea's possession of a hydrogen bomb] though it was allegedly tested—
1) Kim Jong-un is a mentally unstable megalomaniac-
2) Kim Jong-un is unpredictable-
3) Kim Jong-UN thrives on attention-
[namely, the media]

In light of these facts,
I would enjoy some good discussion as to the probability of a North Korean nuke, and its implications.
Thanks!:)

Indications are it's not an H bomb, but an A bomb in the hands of a paranoid and delusional absolute ruler is bad enough.

There's no easy answer to what to do about Kim and his Orwellian dystopia. He's a threat to the west, no question, as well as to South Korea.

To be clear,
What are those implications?

?? implications? Did you mean indications?

There’s skepticism among nuclear experts and governments about North Korea’s claim Wednesday that it has successfully detonated its first hydrogen bomb, with the White House saying its initial analysis was “not consistent” with Pyongyang’s announcement.

I believe that's based on an analysis of the blast and on sampling the atmosphere near the site. It could turn out to be wrong after further analysis, but right now it appears that NK simply has a powerful A bomb.

Which, of course, is bad enough, but then we can't take what Kim says at face value.

He needs money again. He does this all the time. Say something provocative and try to get the US to the negotiating table. Seriously, we should completely ignore them and stop every single North Korean ship to check for missile or bomb parts.

Indications—sorry:doh

Who did this atmospheric analysis-
Was it UN sanctioned?

So far, the US and Japan. Was it UN sanctioned? Not that I know of. Does it matter?

Here's more

The US Geological Survey registered a shock wave equilivant to a 5.1 magnitude earthquake in North Korea this week. The country’s government claims it detonated a hydrogen bomb, but international experts are skeptical.

“We know (the blast) was closer to 10 than 15 kilotons,” said David Albright, refering to the measure of an explosive force equivalent to that of 1,000 metric tons of TNT.

“That’s not a thermonuclear weapon — it’s certainly not what people think of as an H-bomb,” Albright said.

Albright said a hydrogen bomb typically produces hundreds, if not thousands, of kilotons of force. He said, however, that North Korean claims about their nuclear program often contain some grain of truth.

I was just curious as to how that maniac allowed border states to pry into NK's affairs.

Yeah, NK's leader is psycho, but even psychos understand nuclear deterrence.

Unfortunately this makes NK all the more untouchable.

My initial thought is that it's a bit disconcerting that this administration is fine with the DPRK and Iran having nukes but is decidedly unhappy about law abiding US citizens who have hand held firearms.

Because they're on record as approving wholeheartedly the acquisition by the DPRK having nukes, and Iran acquiring them.

Could you clarify that please. Thanks!

Was that directed at me? If so, here you go:

Even small nukes makes a lot of noise. He can't hide them without changing the laws of physics.
