This is what you said, "At least one politician was concerned about N.Korea." and then to prove that only "one politician was concerned about North Korea" you posted an excerpt from a Republican debate where Donald Trump mentioned them very briefly, nothing really of substance just said the DPRK has nuclear weapon capabilities and that Kim Jon Un is crazy, no solutions really, not really saying what he would do about them, just said that the DPRK has nukes and Kim is a nut.... And ok? So what? Does this show that we are underestimating North Korea? That we dont see them as a threat? That we arent "concerned"?

The politicians were not speaking of the threat threat N. Korea is.

They know if they blow up a U.S. city that America will literally wipe NK off of the map. Even the dumbest general in NK knows that. And if there is one thing that politicians/corrupt generals love more then power it is more power. They are not going to instigate something that will automatically mean the end of their beloved power.

NK is broke and in desperate economic straights. The only way they keep the people from rising up is by convincing them that the US is evil and wants to destroy them and that the people must put up with great hardship in the imperial struggle with America.

This isn't about North Korea even remotely considering blowing up an American city - this is about the NK leaders desperately trying to keep the Cold War going as long as possible so that their people don't get fed up with starving, rise up and kill these horrible leaders.

You are correct. People who know how the N. Koreans work are saying this detonation is about starting more talks with U.S. They want us to pay them again for more promises that will not be kept. I really wish the Chinese would do something about their little stepchild. Scientists are also saying that they doubt that this was an h-bomb.

I highly doubt NK detonated a hydrogen nuclear device as they claim. The right numbers aren't there. Radiation detectors (particle/gas) may solve the puzzle.

It could very well have been an "enhanced" atomic detonation ... tritium and deuterium fusion is used to increase temperature which increases explosive energy.
