China has denied entry into the country to Miss Canada for an international competition. China demands to be more accepted upon the world stage, but continues to resist the openness and sense of fair play required in international competitions. The world needs to refrain from holding competitions in China so long as it bars competitors from competition in its country based on their expressions of free thought.

When the world proceeded to hold the Olympics in Russia we showed tyrants that we're all talk and no action. Say what you want about Carter but at least he had the Cojones to withdraw our Olympic team.

Anastasia Lin, who was crowned Miss World Canada, is a practitioner of Falun Gong, a religious group that is threatening China's social stability. Falun Gong's worldview is undermining communism in China and there is an ideological struggle between the CCP and Falun Gong, which is now a banned religious organisation. We tend to think that China is a normal country free from communism but there is no freedom of speech in China, unlike other democratic countries in Asia. Anastasia Lin is also considered to be unpatriotic by Chinese authorities as she often raises China's human rights issues.

The Chinese Embassy in Ottawa said that Lin was not welcome in China, a Canadian newspaper reported on Wednesday. "China does not allow any persona non grata to come to China," Yundong Yang, an embassy spokesman, told the Globe and Mail. "I simply do not understand why some people pay special attention to this matter and have raised it repeatedly."
