Flamboyant former NBA star Dennis Rodman and three members of the famed Harlem Globetrotters arrived in North Korea Tuesday to "entertain and inspire" with their basketball skills while they film a TV show."I come in peace. I love the people of North Korea!" Rodman, 51, said on Twitter Tuesday.
The weeklong visit comes at a time of heightened tension between the United States and North Korea, a result of Pyongyang's pursuit of a nuclear program. Just days ago, North Korea threatened "miserable destruction" in response to routine military exercises planned between South Korea and the United States.

Apparently Dennis Rodman and some Harlem Globetrotters are at the DPRK to entertain im guessing a very very select few of North Koreans. Im guessing they wont see the rampant malnutrition in the country. Also some pretty ignorant tweets from Rodman are available on the article.

this UP DS? ;)

Dennis Rodman, former NBA bad boy, aka “The Worm,” took off on a plane from Beijing on Tuesday in an attempt to create some kind of bridge to the world’s most isolated nation -- via basketball.

Of their plans in the communist country, Vice said they would try to initiate some "basketball diplomacy" by running a sports camp for Korean kids and challenging locals to games. They have also arranged an exhibition match with what are said to be North Korea's best athletes. Vice told AP they hope the game might be attended by North Korea’s “Supreme Leader,” Kim Jong-un.

In South Korea, the news that Rodman and co. would be visiting their hostile neighbors to the north -- with whom the country is officially still at war – was received with surprise and skepticism. Headlines in local press read, “NBA’s Enfant Terrible Going to NK?” and “Why is Roadman Going to Pyongyang?” Most local stories in Seoul on Tuesday suggested the visit was untimely, in that it’s been just two weeks since the North’s most recent nuclear test, which Western leaders said would only further isolate the country.....snip~

They say it is illegal to have tattoos and piercings in NKorea.....according to the AP Rodman got off the plane with his shirt open tats showing and had all his Piercings in.
He is also looking to become a member of the Globetrotters now. According to what I hear he has been trying to clean up his act since he was inducted in the Hall of Fame. Don't know how true that is.

But you can bet Kim Jong Il will be talking with him since the New Leader was a fan of Jordan.

Don't ya just luv how the Hollywood Reporter dubbed this story! Rodman on Diplomacy Mission. :lamo

lol, what a ****ing idiot

That awkward moment when you see a headline, think that it's from The Onion, and it turns out to be a real story.

And not at all the useful kind. At least Stalin got George Bernard Shaw and HG Wells. Communist propaganda fail.

Maybe next they'll court chris brown as a champion of the prols.

I was hoping Rodman would get the Fearless Leader out on the Court at half-time.....and then Do a lil Gangnam Style. Now that would have been Awesome photo shot. :lamo

Oh the fail exhibited by this person (whom I never even heard of before)

he was a pretty big personality in the NBA back in the mid 90's, I think, and dated Madonna. So clearly he's more than qualified to speak on the subject

PYONGYANG, North Korea (AP) — Ending his unexpected round of basketball diplomacy in North Korea on Friday, ex-NBA star Dennis Rodman called leader Kim Jong Un an "awesome guy" and said his father and grandfather were "great leaders" — an assessment that got short shrift from the U.S. government.

Rodman, the highest-profile American to meet Kim since he inherited power from father Kim Jong Il in 2011, watched a basketball game with the authoritarian leader Thursday and later drank and dined on sushi with him.

"He's proud, his country likes him — not like him, love him, love him," Rodman said of Kim Jong Un. "Guess what, I love him. The guy's really awesome."

The State Department on Friday distanced itself from Rodman's visit and his praise for Kim, saying he doesn't represent the United States.....snip~

The State Dept issued a statement saying Rodman doesn't represent the US. What do you think about that? He is an American Citizen but he doesn't represent the US?

Dennis Rodman to Kim Jong Un: "You Have a Friend for Life!"

"Dinner was an epic feast. Felt like about 10 courses in total," [VICE correspondent Ryan] Duffy said in an email to AP. "I'd say the winners were the smoked turkey and sushi, though we had the Pyongyang cold noodles earlier in the trip, and that's been the runaway favorite so far."

Duffy said he invited Kim to visit the United States, a proposal met with hearty laughter from the North Korean leader. …..snip~
