Ive never listened to a rant from Putin. Hes pretty good at it.
And here in America... theres spray paint on the teleprompter
anchorman screams that hes seen a monster! Quote:
The people want peace but the leaders want war
Our neighbors don't speak, peek through the front door
House representatives preach "stay the course"
Time for a leap of faith
Once More
Put your hands up high if you haven't abandoned
Hope that the pen strokes stronger than the cannon
Balls to the wall, Nose to the grindstone
My interrogation techniques leave your mind blown
So Place your bets lets speak to the enemy
Don't let em pretend that we seek blood
And who's we anyways Kemo Sabe?
Mighty warlord wanna-be street thug
a threat for a threat leaves the whole world terrified
blow for blow never settles the score
word for word is time need clarify
We the people did not want war! -Flobots

Perhaps Washington and Moscow should both respond. |

Did the Russians go too far by going into Georgia proper? Sure, but it does not change the fact that the Georgians started the conflict by attacking South Osetiea.
The US, Bush, McCain are on the wrong side in this conflict pure and simple. They are defending "Saddam" attacking "Kuwait" and now whinning over the "coalition" kicking them out of "Kuwait"....

Just keep in mind, Prime Minister Putin is strictly pursuing Russia's interests and framing his message toward that end. Other nations have interests in the Caucasus region, too. Ultimately, stability in that region will require compromises, including those from Russia. |

Originally Posted by Tashah Putin is an ex-KGB officer who now has implicit dictatorial power. Anyone who places any faith in this schmuck needs their head examined. | Some of his data is proven factual:
1. Georgia did invade South Ossetia before Russia invaded Georgia.
2. The media and government of both Georgia and Russia sought to cover this up. It is still not fully talked about in media circles, to my surprise (it seems like the liberal anti-Bush media would love to sink their teeth into this, but I have not seen this yet. I could have missed some serious investigative reporting on it, and would like to see it if anyone has any - national media, that is.)
I am concerned that the U.S.A. did have prior knowledge, and have seen no conclusive evidence to prove otherwise. Putin's description of events that led up to the Georgia invasion is plausible, and I'd like to see it refuted.
As further background, Defense Secretary Bob Gates was head of CIA at the time of Iran-Contra scandal, which funnelled weapons secretly to fight communists in Central America. His record is not sterling in regards to fair play and open relations.
I am certainly no isolationist, but if the Bush doctrine of pre-emptive strikes and spreading democracy includes secretly disrupting peace agreements between the Bear and her former territories, I'm not in. That's careless and breeding tensions between Russia and the West that I see has no value.
We need Russia to join us in efforts to combat nuclear proliferation and improved world relations. We step further away from those achievements by under-handed dealings with their neighbors that uses military force to accomplish democratic ends that had no commensurate threat to justify such force.
The truth is not always pretty, the sides of good and evil are not always black and white. If we allow our government and media to paint a picture of such fixed notions, we are but sheep subject to the whims of the power elite.
