Anybody watching this? It's a modern reboot of the Wizard of Oz story, by Tarsem Singh:

Saw the first episode, and it got me intrigued. This is like Wizard of Oz done in a Game of Thrones style.

I didn't even know about it until your posted these videos.

It does look interesting so I'll check it out; thanks.

I watched about 45 minutes of it and turned it off. Stupid.

Watched it after looking forward to it for quite a while now. I would give it seven out of ten .

I am a big fan of Vincent D'Onofrio but was not blown away by his Wizard performance. I hope he fleshes out the character in weeks to come. The young lady Adrian Arjona who starred was very good however. I especially liked the police dog addition.

Lots of great eye candy to feast on - and for me that is half the appeal here. Not so sure one of the main witches should be a whore house madam as it seems trying to be racy and edgy just for the sake of being so.

It looks semi interesting, but I think it kinda destroys the original spirit of the movie.

I thought Wicked Witch of the West as a laid-back whorehouse madam was cool. She was like the Heidi Fleiss of Oz.
I loved how Glinda the Good Witch of the North was just sweet in public, and a total bitch in private.
I really enjoyed the tension between them and D'Onofrio as the Wizard - they're constantly scheming against him, and he's shoving right back at them, showing them who's boss. This felt like a Trump-vs-Hillary thing.

The Wizard's name is Frank Morgan (they decided to name the character after the actor who played him in the original movie). The reason he's in charge is because unlike the witches, he was able to protect the people of Emerald City the last time they were all in peril from the Beast. Then he negotiated a deal with the witches where they're still allowed a place in society, as long as they agree to refrain from practicing any magic.

I like how loud and confident the Wizard is in public, but when he gets back the privacy of his personal quarters, he takes off his toupee and flops into his chair, wondering how he's going to make everything work out. Uneasy lies the head that wears the crown.

I'm rooting for the Wizard - I hope he makes Oz great again!

I liked this scene - all this tension and intrigue between the major players, against the backdrop of the capitol

I hate -- haaaate -- the voice of the Wizard.

Heh - why? Were you hoping for an english accent, to make him sound more Shakespearean? I like his regular American accent, because it makes him more down-to-earth. He is, after all, without any particularly special pedigree himself, as he was never born into power. He's a guy who had to take power, to get where he is. He occupies his position by sheer force of his personality. He's a carpetbagger of sorts.

Meanwhile, Dorothy's "ruby gloves" that she magically acquires from the dead Witch of the East after killing her, remind me a lot of the Witchblade

It was dumb. It was worse than Tin Man, from several years ago.

Tin Man was a bit campy, but this one is a bit edgier, and definitely darker and grittier. I like the geopolitical angle, with all the intrigue. I think this one is worth watching, to see where it goes.

I saw Episode 3 of Emerald City last night (Eps 1 & 2 were bundled together as the pilot)

Great stuff - things are getting even better and more interesting as the show progresses.

I love how a lot of the story isn't about Dorothy - there are various other characters the show is following, and all have their own plots and sub-plots, which makes the story so fascinating and gripping.

So far, I'm really liking all the main characters and their motivations. So many compelling storylines and backgrounds.

The character of the Wizard is really growing on me.

I'll wait for it on netflix, commercials suck.

Just watched Episode 4 -- at least now we've met the Tin Man, and we have more background on Scarecrow.

We're also introduced to new characters and stories.

Holy crap - I just saw the latest episode of Emerald City -- and the Wizard of Oz is....

STARLORD?!?!?!?

He even looks like an older Chris Pratt

Now I see how he's going to defeat The Beast Forever :2razz:
