This show has been brought up before but it's been a while. I've been to the show over 50 times in the mid 80's and have even acted out a role (Riff Raff). The show is still playing in many cities across the country (wild right?). The reason I'm bringing it up now is because my sons are going for the first time Saturday night.

The audience participation makes this cult classic. If you try to watch it as a stand alone movie it's almost unwatchable. With that being said the cast is very good (Meat Loaf withstanding).

The cast:
Dr. Frank-N-Furter (a scientist), Tim Curry
Janet Weiss (a heroine), Susan Sarandon
Brad Majors (a hero), Barry Bostwick
Riff Raff (a handyman), Richard O'Brien
Magenta (a domestic), Patricia Quinn
Columbia (a groupie), Little Nell
Dr. Everett V. Scott (a rival scientist), Jonathan Adams
Rocky Horror (a creation), Peter Hinwood
Eddie (ex delivery boy), Meat Loaf
The Criminologist (an expert), Charles Gray

The show is a blast. Needed is the audience participation script:

I went to it in theaters with friends. Actually, even with friends and audience participation, it was still pretty unwatchable. I genuinely don't know why this movie became a cult classic, but to each their own. Glad someone's having a good time with it, anyways.

I will be the first to admit it's not for everyone.

In the early 80's I would go see it at the Valley Art.....lots of good times.

My wife is taking the boys to the Loft Cinema in Tucson where you can get a tamale and a beer at the snack bar. It's been playing there for 38 years.

Im a piker...only 46 times. It was an 'event' when I was a kid. The poor Wilshire Theater...man...we made messes.

I remember the first time I went...a group took me right after work at the Amusement Park for the midnight show and they didnt prepare me for what was coming. We walked in during "Theres a Light" and I got squirted and was ready to kick someones ass.

I really enjoyed the movie and music. Still do from time to time.

You didn't mention "Spank The Virgin" antics.

Maybe that's why i can't stand that movie. I've only ever watched it on dvd. Not a fan of musicals either.

You'll have to ask your fellow Houstonians about going to the Alabama Theater every Friday with newspapers and etc. It was quite the culty thing to do.

I had to look up the theater, but I saw it in 1976 or 77 at the River Oaks theater.

Ah yes, I went to a couple shows. I used to dress as Magenta. I'm curly-headed, and it used to be very long, so it was a no-brainer to go for the character with the biggest hair.

Hope he has fun and comes back doing the Time Warp!

Late '70's. My sister and her BFF went nearly every Friday for I-don't-know-how-long. Lots of Montrose-y, campy fun for all.
