"Ocean's 11" remake to have all-female cast

it will be a fail.

ghostbusters was a flop for good reason.

A picture that makes money after 30 days out is not a flop for the makers by any reasonable definition. The really interesting thing about Ghostbusters is that it was a flop with the major critics, it was a flop if we go by the 101,000 consumers who rate it at only 57% on Rotten Tomatoes, BUT it has a 73% Fresh Rating at Rotten Tomatoes with their reviewers. This tells me that it got voted up big time because of a politicized overly lefty reviewer base at RT. I have seen political bias at this site before, but never to this degree.

Same here. I think it's likely they will lose some men from all ages because of actions like this and it will take them some effort to get them back. Of course, I don't see much indication from Hollywood that they care all that much.

THe theater chains are already bankrupt, and the profitability of hollywood has been under extreme pressure, in part because they make too many pictures, and in part because too many of them are crap. Losing young men would be a crisis on par with Trump coming to Washington, which makes the corporations putting so much effort into "Up With Women" branding a very risky proposition. I have read into this, they dont think they will lose more men than new women they gain, and they want to drive their lefty agenda across the nation so they feel a duty to do this. They will put effort into catering to men again only if they have to to stay alive. Women are going to be pushed until/unless the men revolt. The hope is that men have been conditioned to be cucks thoroughly enough that they stick around in the numbers needed to be profitable. Guilt trips will for sure be part of the program, you can bet a paycheck on that.

A business that banks on the unknown, while ignoring the known is a business with failure in their future. Basically they know they will lose male consumers because of their actions, but assume without evidence that they will gain female consumers to replace them. First off, this just horrible business as the known shows that it will causes loss in consumer base. Second, even if this did work they could get even more from just not taking a measure that alienates either demographic.

I think it will fail, and if rating on TV and ticket sales are any indication it is, but a lot of men will just deal with it even if it somewhat annoys them.

Ocean's 8 cast to include Rihanna, Anne Hathaway, Mindy Kaling.

This is getting stupid. We already knew Hollywood was mostly out of ideas in light of all the remakes (of films, of comics, etc). Now they're on to remaking a remake, and only casting females as lead characters. They simply cannot come up with new ideas, and make the strong lead a female now and then? They've got to dredge up existing franchises and fight sexism by recasting all the important males as female? (See also Ghostbusters, Iron Man, etc).

Silly, and actually rather condescending. You're not going to convince sexists to not be sexist by remaking movies they might like and hope a bulb goes off. Meanwhile, you don't need to convince people who aren't sexist using this rather dubious method or any other.

Just make new stories, avoid being sexist while doing it, and drop the vapid pretense.

How many remakes need to flop before they know better?

But they keep going on and on as if there's a lack of new and awesome stories to turn intot movies - and there aren't. Thousands of books released every year and some are pretty damned original.

I've quit tuning into the remakes ever since the disastrous rehash of the Star Trek franchise.

JCP for example proves the point.

I am always interested in the behavior of businessmen when they are leading a monopoly. They seem to lose focus on how to run a business and start making boneheaded decisions right after another. Hollywood has been pushing their social and political agenda for years now and all through that time have paid for it, and yet, they ignore it all and keep doing it. I'm somewhat lost on how a group of people can become completely retarded when they get to be the big player in the field.

I'm all for women casts in action movies. Bring them on! But please, STOP with the remakes! It's called "creativity". Get some.

So you like watching women being manly?

Meh... there's way better stuff on television now than what Hollywood is coming up with. A lot of the best writers are working in television production these days.

Whether it's negative or positive press, giving this movie attention is generating the hype that was intended when they came up with the concept -- and it's not a very good one.

Also, there is a lot of stuff that took less than a million to make that is far more worth my time than some of the stuff Hollywood is making for $100+million.

The average budget for an independent film was found to be $750,000 per movie, a number that was rounded down to be conservative.

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but weren't there already female main characters in these movies? Why in the Hell is it necessary to toss the baby out with the bath water by getting rid of all the men?

Don't get me wrong. I - quite frankly - don't give a crap about the Ocean's franchise. I've never actually seen any of them (they came out before I was really old enough to be into those sorts of films, and I can't stand George Clooney besides), but all of this feminist "score leveling" is just getting out of hand.

It's a silly assed fad, and the sooner it dies, the better. Studios need to focus on just making quality films, not all of this (surprisingly sexist, ironically enough) "anti-sexist" agenda-driven ideological tripe.

LOL! I live and work in Hollywood. My wife is an IP/entertainment attorney in Hollywood.

Studios concentrate on making films that will put asses in the seats, and streaming revenues/media sales receipts into their bank accounts. That's it. 'Quality' is a happy accident that may or may not occur, but it's not the focus of the studio execs or their finance/accounting teams. Will. It. Sell? Absolute schlock makes big checks, ala Adam Sandler movies, the XXX franchise, fill-in-the-blank.

And they didn't make this movie with any thought towards 'anti-sexism' or ideology: someone, somewhere in the decision tree that producers use to green light a project thought this would make money.

It's not a fad, it's a business decision. And if this tanks, don't look for the same formula to be tried twice.

Of that, I have absolutely no doubt.

It's a "business decision" based around the current cultural fad of a certain highly vocal minority of Milennials being absolute fanatical morons about anything having to do with "social justice" issues, particularly those pertaining to third wave feminism (Or is it fourth wave at this point? Who the hell knows...). I'm sure the creative talent in the industry are more than happy to push that along as well... Given that they tend to almost universally swing rather hard-Left themselves.

For that matter, it already did fail. Ghostbusters just tanked... Hard. One is inclined to wonder just how many more such flops the idiots in Hollywood will require to put the cocaine down for a minute and realize that this tactic isn't working as well as intended.

That movie better be good. I loved Gal Gadot as WW in Batman v. Superman (and honestly she was the best thing about that movie to begin with), but recently, DC seems to be on a losing streak with making good movies.

She is the wrong body type for the role.

Wonder Woman is supposed to be an amazon.

This actress is way too skinny to pull it off.

The plot will be Danielle Ocean recruiting 10 other women to help kill a spider and open a jar of mayo so they can fix their husbands a sammich.

"Ocean's 11" remake to have all-female cast

Blatant pandering is pathetic and insulting to movie goers. After the negative reaction to the Ghostbusters remake (which I more or less opposed strictly on the basis of choice of director, screenwriters, and poor casting choices) the studio assuaged us that an all-male cast was coming in a year after that. That too was blatant pandering and I swore off both ventures.

All-female is literally no different to all-male, except there's boobs. Ghostbusters was a good movie because of the actors, and the female one just couldn't compete. The Oceans movies are good because of the characters and plot, not so much the individual actors, so a remake is likely to work better.

The problem with Oceans wasn't that it was a remake from a bygone era (in fact that helped it some), or it was somewhat a generic heist film, it was its sequels.

After the splurge of sequels to the franchise, I'm:

1) Left wondering "why more?"

2) Why insult us further by appealing to base instincts of the culture wars
