Ghostbuster 2016 Video Review. Epic funny Rant

Holllywood was PC before PC was apparently cool. Remember how back in the day they would throw in the random black guy into things even though it made no sense whatsoever? Well, women and gays are the new black guy.

Stop making me agree with you! Yes, that's exactly what they do is trot out the token minority for their own ego's sake. Eventually people will catch on to this hypocrisy.

That might be the case for some, but certainly not all. Hell, I thought an all female cast for a Ghostbusters reboot was a great idea. I was excited about it...until I saw the trailer. Seriously, if you can't pack enough funny parts into a trailer to make me laugh once, how funny can the movie possibly be?

I was interested in it until we found out Paul Feig was directing it. Then I thought it would turn out to be a piece of **** and he was probably going to cast Melissa McCarthy and Kristen Wiig. And sure as ****, he ended up doing just that.

You could practically write the film off as soon as you knew Feig was at the helm. Feig and co. made it worse, when they conflated criticism of irresponsible use of slapstick antics with sexism. Indeed there were a lot of men who weren't mentally able to take an all-female cast, but there were a sizable portion of critics who thought that Feig was a bad vehicle for geekdom with either gender and would tarnish the reputation of the Ramis franchise.

If it were not enough that the studio essentially greenlit a Chris Farley film to replace Ramis's vision, the studio then decided to double down on the gender patronizing. Now we get an all-male cast in a separate film, designed to "expand the universe" of Ghostbusters. This casting design choice was explicitly done to cool the anger of immature men, who had a meltdown at the concept of an all-female cast. Should we have any confidence that the direction and writing would be substantially better? No.

Studio cynicism, plain and simple.

Please, "Curb Your Enthusiasm". Now that's real comedy.

I really respect that show, but I have a hard time clicking on an episode of that. I was feeling that way with the last (not current) season of Silicon Valley. Gut wrenching comedy.

I'm still looking forward to going to see it. Really, really hope my movie theatre is not headed for a disaster of biblical proportions :(

Oh it'll be dogs and cats, living together, mass hysteria.

They missed the boat so far with this film.

The original had an iconic car. The car was a 1959 Cadillac Miller-Meteor Limousine style hearse/ambulance combination. They used that car because it had ambulance seats in the back for the guys to sit on.

This 1980 Hearse is a straight hearse with no place for the girls to sit.

What a crappy job they did with the choice of car and the execution of it's design.

I understand there are no more 1959s, as a buddy of mine found the last one and sold it to the studio for the second film.

I will not be seeing this film unless it is on free broadcast television.

You can't replace comedic geniuses with these ladies who are funny maybe 10% of the time in whatever they do.

My problem is that the studio chose to name the film after the original one, not making an effort to separate itself from the original.

I listened to this guys epic rant all the way through. I love the GB, I grew up watching the Ghostbusters on laser disc (we have the collectors multi disc edition... not a lot to watch in the philippines during rainy season!) Many, many times. It's a personal fave. Hell, I remember seeing the poster for it at the putt putt on base at Seymour-Johnson! (yes, I'm that old).

If this review was legit, as there is technically an embargo until tomorrow, and the movie is really this bad, I'm happy. I didn't like the direction they took the film, the arrogant attitude towards the fans, I didn't like the casting choices and the trailers mad me a sad sad panda.

Paul Fieg is an arrogant SOB.

From the leaked script, to the leak from an anon editor of the movie, to all the clips I've seen.
The guys review is legit.

Fiddy nailed it on the head.
It's looks to be a low rent version of a Chris Farley movie.

I'm not mad they remade it, I'm not happy but fine, whatever. I don't care it's female leads. It sounds like a bad plot, poor casting cohesion, and lot's of in your face PC "girl power" stuff that frankly I find revolting.

I can easily excuse the girl power stuff. But A Ghostbuster is licking a gun like this is a scene from Pineapple Express, for Pete's sake.

What the Christ is that?

No one should have to preface their argument with "I'm not a misogynist" to criticize a movie.
From all appearances it looks like ****.

Hell most of the positive reviews look like, "it's ****, but I don't want to be accused of being a misogynist, so I'm giving it an ok rating."
