Sappiest Song Contest...

little secret... I love Bobby Goldsboro :2wave:

Your secret is safe. I've always had a soft spot in my head for John Travolta, so who am I to judge?

This one is kind of sappy in its own way

You made me do this, Luther:

I LOVE this.

Ergo, not sappy!

It's pretty sappy!

The flip side is that they're supposed to be sappy sogs that you secretly like so I figure we're on solid ground here.

For those who may not have heard of Mac Davis: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mac_Davis

When he was first becoming known as a performer himself, he used to tell a really mean story about Sam the Sham and the Pharoahs (two-hit wonder group). He ran into "Sam" in the men's room after a "Wooly Bully" performances and complimented him, only to be treated like a dirt-under-my-shoe fan. Sam apparently didn't know that Mac Davis had written one of the songs he performed.

Again, if I like it, it's not sappy! And I cried many a hormonal tear over this Rondstadt song (and her "Someday Soon"). It's called "hypocrisy"--get with the program!

Ok, it looks like I have to pull out the big guns of sappiness.

"You Don't Bring me Flowers" with Streisand just oozes sap but it's hard to dislike.

-edit-

Come to think of it, "We Got Tonight" by Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton fits that slot too.

No it isn't hard top dislike for me. I spent most of my career in top 40 radio, where that garbage gets played 16 times in an eight hour period. As a result my tastes in music are pretty defined. Anything with Dolly Parton is too sappy to listen too.

Captain America just made me think of these two

I love the song but it's a 10/10 on the sappy scale

I don’t think this song made it into the rotation, but It drips with sappiness.
