New Top Gear - what do you think?

Without Clarkson, May, and Hammond I won't watch it.

With them gone (well, Clarkson and Hammond at least) I'll return to watching it again after a break of about 3 years. Liked the show, loved the format, couldn't stomach the misogyny and xenophobia. The new show is like an old friend returning, having gone a bit mad for a while.

I always took all of that with a grain of salt. I figured a lot of it was just over the top shenanigans meant to create controversy/publicity.

But I liked those three a lot akd for me I don't think Top Gear will be Top Gear without them. Plus they got Joey. I mean for god's sake, at least make a try for Chandler.

Well, new TG made me laugh a lot, especially Matt. I love the idiot abroad schtick in Blackpool, in the rain, with the mayor in full regalia and the slightly bemused "WTF is this?" look on Matt's face. I'm happy to be watching again. Give it a go, you might like it.

There was a TG for 25 years before Clarkson, May and Hammond.

2nd episode down.

Die hard Jezzer and the boys fans will never be satisfied.
Die hard Chris Evans haters will never be satisfied.

Beyond that, the show is entirely watchable, even amusing. Most of it works, some stuff needs some tweaks. Matt LeBlanc is better than I expected and I wouldn't be surprised if he starts taking more of a leading role from Chris Evans.

The only reason I am willing to give this show a chance is because of Matt LeBlanc.

We are 2 episodes in and in both the participants have cheated in the challenges.

If that continues I will just turn it off.

Why did anybody think Chris Evans would be a good host for this show?

I'm with you. I'm in the US. I watched some Friends episodes, I didn't like it, I didn't like him as an actor at all.

But I think he's somewhere between OK and maybe-could-be-better in the new Top Gear. The other guy, I don't like at all. Why would any Brit like him? I'm not a Brit but had some exposure in Brit pop culture the past decade or even more. He's an idiot...and I don't care if he owns any super-cars. He doesn't come across like a car guy.

That isn't exactly a new twist but rather a time honored tradition on TG.

A long history of successful broadcast work on the BBC.

After the 2nd episode I started thinking that the producers would start paring down Chris Evans role on TG. Just read an article this morning which basically claimed that very thing will start happening over the next few episodes. Expect more of the B crew on the main show instead of being relegated to Extra Gear or whatever it's called, and for Matt LeBlanc to perhaps even take over the lead role by the end of the series.

I don-t remember the other 3 guys cheating on every challenge.

Most of the time it was a fair fight.
