I didn't watch, but here is a complete list of winners. Of course, you have to scroll forever to reach jazz, blues, folk, bluegrass, or "Americana." Hmmmpf.

2016 Grammy Awards: Complete list of winners and nominees - LA Times

From TMZ yesterday:

This is one for the ages ... Paul McCartney turned away at a Grammy after-party ... not once, BUT TWICE.

Paul, Beck, and Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins went to Argyle in Hollywood Monday night to hobnob at the bash hosted by Tyga.

Security was not impressed and told them they were not welcome. You hear Paul say, "How VIP do we gotta get? We need another hit."

Only in opposite world could a Tyga's genre take precedence over the genres I've listed or a McCartney be blown off.

lol - it's like trying to read a list of strange ingredients.

Clearly I don't listen to as much music as I thought.

And that's okay (channeling Al Franken's "Stuart Smalley" here).

In 3 years will anyone even remember who Tyga is? In fact I have no idea who Tyga is and don't care. Perhaps turning Paul McCartney away at the door is Tyga's best shot at lasting fame.

That's an excellent point.

I have lurid reading tastes and love the Daily Mail. I'd never click on a headline, but the Kartrashians are inescapable. This guy Tyga was allegedly having sex with the then-minor one. He's supposedly actually on the down-low. Whether he is or not isn't important; he really is low regardless.

Other than Removable Mind and me who hasn't had sex with a Kardashian?

Don't normally watch it but I was bored on Sunday and ended up tuning in:

Kendrick Lamar should have beaten Taylor Swift for Album of the Year

Courtney Barnett should have beaten Meghan Trainor for Newcomer of the year

Caribou or Jamie XX should have beaten Skrillex/Diplo for Dance/Electronic Album

That's not based on my subjective opinion in the slightest. It's based on completely objective facts that came from inside my head that are definitely right.

That Bowie tribute form Lady Gaga was god awful.

very little produced and recorded after 1980 is worth listening to other than the occasional country tunes

yes, i am biased

and yes, i am proud of it

:2razz:

I just watched up to the Stevie Wonder number with the Pentatoniks, which was all I wanted to see. Saw a few outtakes the next day, dint miss nuttin. Never liked the Beatles, they were just annoying, so couldn't care less about Paul's problems; all they wrote were commercial jingles, aimed at the same demographics the majority of the rap n hip hop garbage goes after, so Tyga's guest list doesn't bother me, they all deserve each other. I've gone back to listening to people like Sarah Brightman, Carol Welsman, Annie Lennox, Tom Petty, and my latest favorite vocalist Jackie Evancho, all circa 1990's stuff with the exception of Evancho. Evancho has already done what I consider to be the last word on 5 or so traditional classics, 3 of them at age 11 no less, and 2 on her latest, which is no small thing given the number of greats who have covered them.

I couldn't name a song I've heard by either of them, though I probably have heard one or two just by accident, but I'm glad Swift won just because of the constant sniveling about her 'lack of talent' I hear from hipsters and dumbass rockers with no taste in music I can discern but think they're 'experts' anyway. In fact I'm going to annoy them this evening about her win. lol

She won like 3 years ago so I think it's safe to say she's talented, I certainly think she is, but Lamar's album (even though I don't like listening it to myself) was a cultural and artistic landmark.

If I find somebody who has it, I'll give it a listen.

You can use youtube or something. Here's a link to a playlist of the whole album: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s0QtdISwioc&list=PLIen3IPVo_U30dpwJd2RDrPxYVXTplcq7

To Pimp a Butterfly (Lamar's album) isn't really my thing at all, and if you're not familiar with rap you might not like it either, but I think it's posisble to recognize good music outside of the genre's you enjoy listening to :)

I hear rap and hip hop all the time, have for years, and I do hate it, it's mostly violent racist sexist garbage, but thanks for the concern.

On the bright side, Buddy Guy won (blues), and so did banjo virtuoso Bela Fleck (folk). :)
