I can't remember the name of the song, the lyrics, or the artist.

It is a song about two brothers. One grows up good and the other grows up bad. I think the good one becomes a law man and the bad one ends up in prison, maybe death row. The good brother visits the bad brother in prison and is basically told not to be sad because he made his own choices.

Anyone here have a better memory than I?

Not Pancho and Lefty, right? They weren't brothers but there is a line in there about Pancho being his mom's favorite son.

Great song, but no. Thanks.

Johnny Cash - The Highway Patrolman?

How about giving us a rough time frame for when the song came out?

It is at least 10 or 15 years old. It might be sung from the perspective of the good brother and I have a vague memory of the lyrics with the concepts of "walking in the dark" vs "walking in the light". Though a lyrics search of those didn't help.

I'm going to drive myself crazy with this.

You may drive the rest of us nuts too!:lamo

I got it! I just remembered it was a duo so that narrowed it down. I pulled up a list of all of Brooks & Dunn's songs and found it. It is Born and Raised in Black and White. I had the overall gist of it right but the good son didn't become a lawman, he became a preacher. Thanks or playing everyone!

I didn't realize The Highwaymen did a version also.

Brooks and Dunn?

Barely thought of them. I was thinking Waylon, Willie, Kris or Johnny Cash...
