Vince Gill's cousin, Bobby Trero, has a place in Willis Texas called Blueberry Hill, where he would frequently invite musicians to play. Willie Nelson has played there. Last Saturday my band, The Edison Freeman Project had the honor of being the last of 8 bands to play at a chili cookoff fundraiser for the kids at Texas Children's Hospital. I was also one of the chili judges at the event. I was there from before noon and didn't leave until almost midnight, and I got to see a ton of money raised for the kids.

I am going to post some pictures of the event. Blueberry Hill is one of the most beautiful places in the state of Texas, or anywhere else, for that matter. The first time I ever played there, my jaw dropped to the floor. It is totally freaking beautiful, and playing there is fun. I didn't make a dime Saturday, but this was probably the most enjoyable gig I have ever played. When people pay to see live music, then once in a while us musicians gotta give some of that back, not only to show our appreciation, but to also contribute to the energy flow of life, rather than just take from it.

Pictures will be here momentarily. If the place pleases your eyes, as it does mine, let me know.

Here's my band playing. First song out of the box was Beginnings by Chicago Transit Authority. One of our members couldn't make it, due to the flu, but we pulled off the song with only 3 pieces and got a standing O. :)

The rest of our set was originals, except for one song, which was Let it Rain by Tom Waits.

NOTE: I'm the ugly guy on the right. LOL.

Way to go, congratulations. I worked in Willis back in the late 70s and didn't know anything about a Blueberry Hill and it's to my everlasting loss, no doubt. Keep it real.

Bobby Trero created Blueberry Hill about 1990.
