Lucifer

I saw it also... and loved it.. which means it will be cancelled soon I suspect.

LOL....

That tends to happen to shows I like too.

Ever watch The Dresden Files?

Watched it...enjoyed it...did not love it.

I suspect the cutesy stuff will tire most viewers rather quickly.

I'll watch it a few more times before making a definite judgement.

(Takes big ones to bring out a show that shows Lucifer in such a favorable light, though. I'll give you that.)

They seemed to borrow some ideas from the Twilight Saga...and from something else that I cannot bring to mind just now.)

IMO, that's almost required if one wants to hold true to the myth. Lucifer is the ultimate deceiver. If he is just an evil brute, well...where's the fun in that?

I've been watching the 1995 American Gothic TV series for about a week now. The main antagonist on the show is "devilish." His technique is to lure victims to his side by being likable but, in the end, he is, of course, very untrustworthy and uses people's weaknesses: greed, pride: ambition, etc.; against them. It (the show's theme) works well with such a character.

Never watched the American Gothic thing at all.

As I see it, if television writers could make a character like Dexter lovable...they can do anything. And it is fun to watch them take a character and change it into something you'd think to be impossible.

We watch it another time or two...mostly because Nancy thinks Lucifer is hot...and she puts up with me checking out lots of hot chicks.

Dexter only killed bad guys...at least back when I stopped watching the show. But, yeah, he was very likable, as was the show. I think I watched two seasons of it before losing interest.

Hot chicks and guys. What's not to like? Something for everyone.

I am looking forward to catching it on Hulu. Yaaay!

What made Dexter a fantastic show:
• The formula could be thrown away at any time to make the show unpredictable
• You couldn't get attached to ANYONE...everyone was expendable, possibly even Dexter (the show was nail biting enough that you truly wondered if they would off him or not).
• Sarcasm

If Lucifer is like this I will truly love it. Its hard to find shows that don't fall into the "formula trap" though.

Guess I need to check it out. I'm always on the search for new shows.

Just watched the first episode today on Fox. Looks like it's going to be a fantastic show.

Lucifer Series Premiere Review: To Hell and Back (and Probably Back Again) - Lucifer Community - TV.com

I'm watching it - for multiple reasons. "I love it" is not one of them. I wanted to love it... and am rather disappointed.

For one, he's annoying as ****. He's not funny or cute most of the time. He's just irritating with the way he talks and yaps all the time about how he's the devil in this poppycock sort of attitude. He's the most irritating version of the devil I've ever suffered through. Though - I'm starting to get used to him and find his mannerisms a little less grating.

The premise of him being a cop side-kick is ridiculous... but I know that's supposed to be him with all his 'power of the deal with the devil' thing - but it's still beyond stupid.

The cases they work are dull. The most in depth and complex thing so far was the Palmetto fiasco - and her 'emotional drama' came across so dry and bland I found myself really not giving a damn.

I also don't like how all the interesting elements that perk my ears are brought to an end rather quickly -
the wings only took up two episodes and I'm hoping he didn't really burn them.

But I'm watching anyway - more interested in the immortal and mortal struggle going on between Lucifer, Mazikeen (who is my favorite character in the show) and Amenadiel. This is the type of thing I write about in my stories which incorporate religion and symbolism. I've written my own Devil-On-Earth story (but my devil was far more refined and not at all 'good' - but extremely evil with bedside manners) so I tend to sink my teeth into that type of thing quite a bit.

Just - it's shocking that the devil himself as a human is such an irritating, cocky puff. I hoped I'd like him, but I don't really.

I think they pegged the show pretty good. Lucifer has lived on earth for five years now. Enough time to make him a character that knows how to get around in our world, but still carried the stiff arrogance of a supreme being. I like the way they are showing him slowly changing as a character. As for the cop side kick... As the devil, he dealt out justice. Besides, the woman cop is completely immune to his charms, and it intrigues him. Another reason for him to stay by her side. He's just doing it in a different way, and if you recall why he started in the pilot episode, it makes sense.

Stupid or not, so are any of the comic book style TV series. I find it a very entertaining show.

The first season went 13 episodes and will be picked up for a second.

What a cliff hanger...
