RIP Glenn Frey[RIP]

One of my very favorite songs of all time. He had a beautiful voice. Fly with the angels, Glenn.

Bummer.

It sounds like one of those deals where you go into the hospital for a quick fix and never make it out.

The most recent news to fans that Frey was dealing with health issues surfaced late last year when the band was due to be recognized at the Kennedy Center Honors in December but announced they would have to bow out of the official ceremony. In early November, they said "The Eagles will be unable to participate in the 2015 Kennedy Center Honors on December 6th due to Glenn Frey’s health,” adding that “Mr. Frey has had a recurrence of previous intestinal issues, which will require major surgery and a lengthy recovery period. The Kennedy Center has graciously agreed to postpone the Eagles’ award presentation until next year, when all four Eagles, Glenn Frey, Don Henley, Joe Walsh, and Timothy B. Schmit, can attend.”

Eagles member Glenn Frey has died

Wrote several of my favorite songs. Farewell.

Eagles co-founder Glenn Frey dies at 67

The guitarist co-founded the Eagles and with Don Henley became part of one of history’s most successful songwriting teams with such hits as “Hotel California” and “Life in the Fast Lane."

I noticed too.
Unnervingly for me, all in their mid/late sixties.

The Eagles were one of my favorite bands growing up and they still are today. I remember I moved to a new high school in 1977 and "New Kid in Town" was playing on the radio all the time. I hated my new school and I hated that song for that reason. Today, its one of my favorites because it takes me back to that time in my life that maybe wasn't so bad after all.

RIP Glenn and thanks

Another one, gone. So sad. Another musician from my formative years. I love his music and was glad when "Hell Froze Over" in 1994.

RIP Glenn

two from cancer (with DB-the type not known)
GF-apparently colitis was the main culprit

on a side note, a guy I briefly knew in college-the nephew of Yves St Laurent, Georges, died of lymphoma (which also took Joey Ramone from us) died a few months ago. It was bigger news in Europe

I never was much of an Eagles fan, though I really like some of Joe Walsh's stuff

still, the guy was a major league talent

Talented individual. I loved the solo song he did for the theme for Thelma and Louise, "Part of Me, Part of You." And he his song, "You Belong to the City" that they used in Miami Vice, and he even had a guest shot on the show playing a bush pilot.

Thanks and RIP.

Eagles during the Hotel California tour was the first concert I ever saw. I was all of 15. I still remember it as one of the best shows I've ever seen of the hundreds I've been to after that.
Didn't realize it until I saw the Eagles documentary a couple of weeks ago that Frey and Henley were probably the most successful US popular music writing team and second only to Lennon and McCartney.

Colitus. Damn. Who dies of that? And still a relatively young man.

Great songwriter, wonderful singer. RIP. Another from my youth gone.

Sad news. I saw the Eagles in 1973 when they were supporting Neil Young in Liverpool. Great band.

I remember his guest shot on Miami Vice. He was such a natural. I wondered why he didn't pursue more acting gigs. Love that song too.

Eagles Manager Says Glenn Frey's Death Caused Partly By Medications | Billboard

"The colitis and pneumonia were side effects from all the meds," Azoff said. "He died from complications of ulcer and colitis after being treated with drugs for his rheumatoid arthritis which he had for over 15 years."
