Gore's is a fairly standard interpretation. Nomi's is unusual. His appearance is so unusual that I sought out other videos of him to see if that picture was for real. Not cis what with a very high voice at times (what range!), heavy makeup, and a song written for a woman, not trans what with a receding hair line, big shoulders, and very German sounding masculine voice at times. Very heavy on the synthesizer music. I would say that the presentation was intended to be surreal and transgressive. The rap-ish delivery of the lyrics was, I think, meant to make people pay attention to what they said, which augmented the surreal feeling.
