Might be good but, not knowing the actually events of his death might prove hard to stop.

only if Oliver Stone directs the show. here's hoping that they follow the plot in the book.

The book was absolutely amazing. One of King's best.

Really great book. King is a great story teller. I'll withhold judgment on the tv show. Shows of his books have been hit and miss.

a couple have been great. it's hard to translate his books into movies because so much of it is internal dialogue. that's why Shawshank Redemption worked so well. Morgan Freeman narrated the internal dialogue brilliantly. same thing with Tom Hanks and Green Mile.

Green Mile is awesome. Shawshank Redemption is currently my favorite movie of all time. So obviously I agree with you.

I think I will actually cry the day that King passes away. I have gained so much enjoyment from his work.

yeah, i'm a big fan, as well. i like dystopian novels like The Hunger Games, but they don't hit me like The Long Walk does. he's a master storyteller.

This is one of the few King books I have missed out on so no expectations going into the miniseries which is good.
The premier was pretty good and definitely King strange in some ways. However, much like Under the Dome, it kind of has almost too much of a TV serial feel to it. My favorite TV series/movie of his was "Storm of the Century" which was very King IMHO :) though I wasn't much past my boycrush on Ringwald when the Stand aired.
This is looking to be a miniseries I will stick with. It definitely isn't boring so far. I wish Hulu released entire series like Netflix so I could binge :D

I watched the first episode, it has me very intrigued. I have not read the book but maybe I will afterwards.

It's out? I'll have to check it out. I won't get my hopes up, though. King's books make outstanding movies but I haven't been all that impressed my the tv series based on them.

Just wanted to necro this thread to say this show sucks.

They used a toilet bowl plunger to cram a romance subplot into the story, then removed the time travel element from a story about time travel. It's a bait-and-switch show to lure scifi fans in, turn it into a complete soap opera, at which point it's either too late because you just want to see how the damn thing will end or your soap opera loving girlfriend/wife is now into it.

apparently, this is happening :

that book was awesome. i will probably watch this.

I've got both the book and the audiobook. Although my wife is a huge Stephen King fan, I haven't been fond of most of what he has written, although I do love a few of his books. My 3 favorites are 11.22.63, The Green Mile, and Different Seasons, which contains 4 novellas, of which Shawshank Redemption is one. Great stuff, but I'm not too fond of his "ghost stories", except one called "The Langoliers". Never read that book but saw the miniseries it was based on.

the miniseries for 11-22-63 is pretty good, too. i dig the Bachman Books (Long Walk, Roadwork, etc.) to be honest, though, i like all of his work.
