Well... Damn. Looks like this is happening after all.

I wonder if this means there's still hope for a big budget movie theater quality Halo movie...

Only if Microsoft puts money towards it.

I think you meant Warcraft rather than WoW, as the latter flows from the former.

Wow that's a massive budget for a "meh" trailer.

About the only thing I liked was that it kept the Warcraft look.

Eh. Close enough. The only reason this is getting made is because of the success of the WoW game.

Yeah... That's some awfully shoddy CGI for a Hollywood film.

That was actually something that bugged me about it (and has always bugged me about the concept of super buff Orcs in general) to be honest.

How in the name of all that is holy are a bunch of puny humans with swords supposed to have a snowball's chance in Hell against an army of giant hulk-monsters who can casually suplex armored war horses?

At least Warhammer 40k gives the puny humans badass laser guns and tanks to even the odds!

To me the CGI was the only thing that kept it out of the blanket "oh, here's another ****ty fantasy movie. Oh it's a video game movie to boot!"

At least it looks unique and really honed in on Blizzard's art style.

Pump out a ton of Paladins, and build that Blacksmith building ;)

Oh, and don't forget....make sure them damn dirty orcs can't chop down trees or mine. Very important!

It basically looks like a feature length cut scene from one of their games... Only not as good.

I guess we'll see how it all turns out.

It's a video game movie. So long as they avoid this:

They are already ahead.

However, even if it looks like gold for the video game movie market, it's still a pile of ****. We'll all go through the same song and dance..oh video games have such great storylines; why can't Hollywood get it right?

They only seem that great because we play them. If we were forced to watch what was unfolding, gamers would recognize it for what it is: ****.

Yup. Generally speaking, even the best games only tend to have "B-movie" grade storylines.

Half-Life 2 and a couple of the Elder Scrolls games (not Oblivion) are the rare exceptions in this regard.

I love me some Bethesda but I won't even call their games "exceptions."

Actually, Morrowind and (maybe) Skyrim's main storylines could probably make for fairly decent quality fantasy flicks if they were streamlined a bit, and had their finales kicked up a notch.

I think they'd be at least on par with something like, say, the Narnia movies.

The old British tele serials? Blasphemy. Those rocked my childhood, good sir!

Oh...you mean the Hollywood adaptations.

Well then, that's certainly possible ;)

Just looks like another CG flick to me.
