New Star Trek Series Premieres January 2017

Err 7 of 9... hands down!
No question about it.
Best body in the cosmos.
Comical exchange.....

Seven of Nine: Do you wish to copulate?
Ensign Kim: Uh..well...um.....the thing is....
Seven of Nine: I won't hurt you.....

And in this exchange we see why Kim remained a lowly ensign.
I ask you, would Capt James T Kirk have stammered around like that???
No....Kirk would have boldly gone where no man has gone before!!
Interestingly, Kim was played by an actor named Wang.....you can look it up.

Actually, what I've been looking for is the story of the beginning of Starfleet Command and the general war, where Kirk and crew would be very minor characters.

Are you talking about the time between Enterprise and TOS?

In Endgame Harry Kim had his own command and had just come back from a seven year science mission in deep space.

I haven't seen "Endgame"
Evidently, the spirit of Capt Kirk gave Kim a good talking to.
Seize the day, Mr. Wang Kim!

My mom was in high school when Star Trek came out and she always had a big crush on Spock.

I was seven years old and loved watching it every week on our B&W TV.

Bad idea, Star Trek was run into the ground because of all those mediocre TV shows like Enterprise, Voyager and TNG. They will dilute the brand name and lessen the appeal of the movie franchise.

Yeah, that's where the newer movies have gone. But the whole beginning thing has never been told.

I hope I'm not disappointed by the new idea.

So you didn't watch Enterprise?

The origin story was a film, "First Contact" a prequell kind of thing. Rodenberry said in the 60's that he never wanted it to have a beginning and an end, he wanted it to be a journey.

Best 60's episode: The Wrath of Khan, funniest: The Trouble with Tribbles

First Contact only describes how Earth happened to grab the attention of Vulcans. It had little to nothing to do with the actual development of the Federation. That took much more time.

TNG mediocre? Surely you jest. I love ToS but TNG was superior in almost every way.

I agree.

My two big problems with TOS is first, they really underestimated technological advances when it comes to miniaturized electronics. Secondly, the "isms" of the 60's are so outdated.

TNG was hit or miss. About half the episodes were solved with some weird technobabble that the crew came up with after a few minutes and their personalities were completely bland. TOS had a great triumvirate of Kirk (the archetypical hero) , Spock (voice of logic and reason) and McCoy (voice of humanity).

Yep. Here we go with the usual Trek Tribalism crap that I've always hated among the fanbois.

ToS will always be my favorite. My son is watching them now, it's fun to see it through the eyes of the 21st Century. Much better story telling then the crap we see today.

I love TNG because it was "MY Trek" to grow up with. Picard, Riker and the gang did a great job of stepping to the plate. Granted there were some really ****E episodes, there were unforgetable moments as well.

I didn't mind DS9, I just never got into it hard. Ferengi annoy me.

Voyager is crap, straight crap. Didn't like the Capt, didn't like the crew. Didn't like the story. It was annoying.

Enterprise... Such a wasted opportunity of crazy story arcs and stupidity. I couldn't get past one of the early episodes where Archer gives his Comms officer a high school level "Confidence building moment". UHG.

I thought a lot of them were pretty boring, but I actually did like the Voyager show. I have heard a lot of people say they didn't like that one, but it is my favorite. That last one, Enterprise, was pretty bad. I didn't care much for the characters, but I really liked the scenes where they had to touch each other. I did like the girl who did the languages, but I think that is the one you are talking about.

Not a bit, and I'm talking about an earlier time period leading up to the enterprise.

Which would be between meeting the Vulcans and Enterprise, which is prior to establishing the Federation. The Federation was setup in like the last episode or at least around it of Enterprise.

Right, and there was a general war that established the races and sides. There is sooo much that Trek has yet to tell.

Oh come on, Kirk was by far the best Captain! :)

My order:

1) Kirk
2) Picard
3) Sisko
4) Janeway
5) Archer

I hope that they move ST forward with the new alternate universe! I want cloaked star ships, I want war damit!

Tim-

Sisko
Archer
Kirk
