I do know a few chicks who like metal and hard rock but they are few and I have always wondered why. I have nothing against romance but I hate to hear it all the time in my music. Maybe the non romantic songs that the majority of metal/ hard rock sung is a turn off for females or maybe it is the in your face aggression. I don't know but I sure seem to know lots of girls listening to pop music or rap. What gives?

it is hard

I don't like that type of music precisely because I can't imagine hot women dancing to it. I just envision sweaty long haired teenage guys with acne banging their heads to it. Very unsexy music.

I hate dance music myself because it is so simple and every song is about romance. I know females are smart so why do they like the same old crap about a boy meeting a girl. You can dance to Rob Zombie or AC/DC.

no comment

I am sorry. Just trying to be funny. The fact is metal and hard rock is rebellious and creative. It does not get stuck into the same old crap like pop music and the power and aggression give me a rush and I am 56 years old.

Remember metal is a old art form. The first Black Sabbath album came out in 1970 so the myth if it being teen music is long gone. Metal music is like horror films. 75% of it sucks but what is good is outstanding and will stick with you for ever.

My nephew was stationed there in Turkey. I was wishing I could have gone there. I hear it is by far the most enlightened Islamic country. Is that true?

I don't pay attention to the lyrics I just don't like the music in hard rock. Not a nice sound.

I wonder whch countries they are

I don't really care about "enlightened" or whatever, people are people regardless of where you are. But I prefer Malaysia and Indonesia. If I had to live in a muslim country, and i had moniez, would prolly go with the UAE. Obviously not "enlightened" but a great place to be a rich westerner.

“I have never ever ever been able to attach myself to the word ‘heavy metal’ — it has no musical connotations,” says Osbourne. “If it was heavy rock, I could get that, but the ’70s was kind of like a bluesy thing, the ’80s was kind of bubblegum-frosted hair, multicolored clothes and the ’90s was kind of grungy. People come up to me and say, ‘Your Sabbath work was a big influence on me.’ I could go, ‘Oh, yeah, I can see that,’ but other bands… what part of that is inspired by us? Some of it is just angry people screaming down a microphone!”

Because it's an aggressive and rather violent art form, with an equally aggressive and violent culture, which caters primarily to the emotion of rage. All of those things tend to be endemic to, and therefore appeal, far more readily to persons with an inherently masculine mindset than they do those with more feminine mindsets. Hence, the genre has far more male performers and fans than female performers and fans.

Now, obviously, some women are into it. However, they undeniably tend to be few and far between.
