I'm hooked. This series somewhat surprised me. The reviews were good, but oh lawd! Hand of God is almost as good as the Sopranos, better than Boardwalk. Great writing, direction, acting.

Is crazy always crazy? Maybe not. It is difficult to tell in Hand of God.

Is anyone else watching the series?

On Amazon streaming?

Ah...I have AP and my Blu-Ray player hooks up to Amazon. It's in its second season?

Not yet. It's still in the first season. Ten episodes. We try not to binge watch. They do a fantastic job of leaving you hanging at the end of each episode.

I see Ron Perlman is in it. He's a great actor. Really good in Son's of Anarchy (and actually most everything I've seen him in. As far as I'm concerned his greatest role was in "Quest for Fire" (movie) one of his very early acting jobs. And he didn't say very much but was really good throughout the entire movie.

Amazon also has another series that get's great reviews and that's "Transparent" with Jeffery Tabor. We'll give that a shot when we can.

From Netflix...we like "House of Cards", "Orange is the New Black", "The Killing" (Netflix picked it up for one last season, but man, the 3 or 4 seasons were really good, "LilyHammer" with Steve Van Zandt - I really like this but only lasted 4 seasons and it was a hoot, and we have been told that Bloodline is good, it's kind of new.

Quest for Fire was very good plus it also my all time secret fantasy lady, Rae Dawn Chong.

House of Cards is my wife's favorite. We haven't seen the Killing. LilyHammer was excellent. I really liked it. Sad to see that it was not renewed. On Hulu the Danish series Klown is fantastic. Well done funny. Not slapstick stupid with a laugh track. It's adult humor though not much nudity at all. (Can't have everything.)

I saw the trailer. It seemed interesting.

Can you watch shows on Amazon for free?

I don't know Gath. I have Amazon Prime and it's part of the deal. If you can watch it for free I think you'd enjoy it.

Just finished episode 2 (turns out you can get a one month free trial on Amazon Prime  ).

The show seems pretty decent so far. It's heavy on mood and symbolism. The acting's also top notch. I am kind of wary of where all the religious elements might be heading, however.

I actually have kind of a crazy theory as of the second episode. Lol

What if the main character has been behind the rape of his son's wife all along, and has simply blocked it out of his memory?

We know he's not really what you'd call a "good" man. He's selfish, corrupt, unforgiving, manipulative, and even a bit cruel. He had a bad relationship with his son, and he's also powerful and well connected enough (as a wealthy judge from a high-status family) to have potentially conspired to have a cop commit the rape in return for professional advancement.

He also demonstrated in episode two that he doesn't remember a lot of things. He didn't remember fighting with his son, or buying him a fish at Jerry's Exotic Fish Shop, for example. His wife has to remind him of the whole thing.

Could a guilty conscience (possibly with divine help) be behind this whole thing?

Hmmm, looking at the reviews it seems mostly negative. I think I'll pass...

On a side note Ive watched about 4 episodes of Rectify and its the quirkiest and slowest TV show ever- barely anything happens.

30% on Rotten Tomatoes, but it seems to be in the 7 or 8 out of 10 range on most other sites.

It has my attention. I'll give it that much... Even if it is only for how ludicrously out of left field the whole thing is. I'm still not really sure what it's angle or ultimate point might happen to be, however.

The Born Agains, so far, seem to be a bunch of self-interested charlatans. At the same time, however, they actually have some semblance of morality, and they try to do the right thing.

For their own parts, the secular businessmen and socialites on the opposite side of the spectrum, while they come off as being a bit more rational, are straight out amoral scumbags. They're pretty much all horrible human beings, including the main character (though he aspires to be more).

Just finished Season 1.

Eh. It was alright, thought it kind of left more questions than answers though.

It was pretty obvious that something was going to happen with PJ in the last episode - either he would wake up, or simply continue to survive without life support - from the very beginning. Sure enough, it was the second one.

I still think Parnell was in some sense complicit in the rape of his son's wife (likely with Brooks), and that the final step towards waking PJ up will be his remembering that fact, and turning himself in. I'm not really sure if there's enough potential story here to fill out another season, however. I guess we'll just have to wait and see (if it actually gets another season, that is).
