Anime: Faves and Dislikes

Yeah, forgot about Perfect Blue. Man, that was a good movie.

I also really dig Princess Mononoke.
 
I just havent been able to keep up with anime since I was a kid. The one anime that stands out for me is Vampire Hunter D and Samurai X.
 
Before bed, a couple quick videos. Setup for first is that the girl in the video looks younger than she is, and is not happy about it:



Setup for the next is that the guy, Shintaro leaves his house for the first time in a year to go shopping and terrorists take over the mall. He passes out furing that, and wakes up in a strange room. His conversation at the start is with Ene, who is an AI program on his phone(and lives to torment him).



No explanation needed for the last one. It starts a little slow, but gets funny quickly.

excel saga is way better if you just go with the manga version though the anime was fun

I definitely enjoy comedies, sora no otoshimono (as you pointed out in english) was incredible.

I've only ever read the manga, out of fear of it being worse and ruining the great experience I had I have yet to see the anime.

You have seen other Miyazaki films besides Mononoke, right?
 
this was the 1st anime movie I ever spent money on enjoyable if not great

I liked Cowboy Bebop. I also watched the animated version of Blue Submarine No. 6 a loooong time ago, which I remember thinking was pretty cool at the time.

Most recently, I've been watching Attack on Titan on Netflix. It's actually pretty good.



However, I kind of spoiled it for myself by looking at the Wiki. The ultimate twist with the Titans seems kind of silly, IMO.

Attack on Titan is a pretty anime. But it kind of reminds me of Dragon Ball Z or Naruto. It prolongs scenes and repeats the same scenarios over and over. "Titan! Run! No, fight! Ahh! It's chasing me! Half our troops have been wiped out!! He's a Titan?! Whaaaaa?!" Wash and repeat.


And don't watch english dubbed if you've watched it in Japanese. It's terrible. To me anyways,.

My only problem with the Japanese versions is that they...

SCREAM!

BASICALLY!!

EVERY!!!

LINE!!!!

It starts to give me a bit of a headache after a while. :lol:

beyond the boundary was pretty good at times

the musical number in 1 episode was kind of odd since its a supernatural/fighting show and im pretty's sure the 1 eyed monster in it was supposed to represent creepy obsessed fans

Now that I've gotten a bit further into the series, I agree, BTW.

It seems like they deliberately go out of their way to milk certain elements of the story, and it causes plot-lines which could probably be resolved with two or three episodes to drag on to five or six episodes or more.

The female titan string is getting on my nerves in particular.

Eren: "I MUST FIGHT HEEEERRR!!!

Soldier: "NOOO!!! WE WILL FIGHT HER FOR YOU! OBEY YOUR ORDERRRSS!!!!"

Eren: "OKAY!! I TRUST YOUUU!!"

*Soldier dies*

Eren: "I MUST FIGHT HERRR!!"

Other Soldier: "NOOOO!!!"

*Repeat ad naseum for three episodes*

We all know that he's going to fight her sooner or later. Just get it over with and quit wasting everyone's time. Sheesh. :roll:

Also, I'm pretty sure I already know who she is, just from looking at the way she's been drawn. lol

I love Slayers to this day. Have the entirety of the series on DVDs

I'm recollecting Evangelion again because...well because they put out another version and I'm a sucker for Evangelion

On the Mech side of things Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann is one of my favorites. It's super awesome and just continues to scale up as the series progresses

Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040 is decent too....chicks in mechs rock

Black Lagoon is a great anime about modern day pirates

Deadman Wonderland is pretty decent, I haven't seem much of the anime, I read the manga

Baccano is a superb anime as well, excellent story with fantastic characters

Beck...super awesome and funny anime

And I won't spoil it for you :2razz: But I looked it up on wikia as well so I ruined alot of it for myself. But I am okay with that. I just hope the story progresses a little. It has surprises but I need more! More plot!!! Side stories! Tying up of some loose ends!!
 
Political-wise I have always been a fan of the Mobile Suit Gundam series. Generally though, I watch a mixture of stuff, from Strawberry Panic to Free! and Monster.

Baccano is perfect! Hated Deadman Wonderland....the first season anyways. Haven't seen the rest. Probably won't.

I have tried getting in to Mobile Suit Gundam. I love the characters but hate mecha animes.

Monster was a wonderful manga. Never saw the anime.
