Question Now That Dems Rule Will The GOP Be Against Democratic Tax Cuts?

I was thinking that the Republican party is adrift, rudderless and without any message that mainstream America can identify with. I also thought that it must be irritating to Republicans to see that Obama / Democrats are even grabbing the tax cut issue away from the GOP.

If the Democrats now support tax cuts and if Obama does not cancel Bush's tax cuts and lets them expire in 2011 will Republicans in Congress come out against tax cuts by saying that due to the current economy we cannot afford to cut taxes?

So my question is:

Will The GOP Be Against Democratic Sponsored Tax Cuts?

Re: Now That Dems Rule Will The GOP Be Against Democratic Tax Cuts?

1) how can you cut taxes for 95% of americans when 43% of americans pay no income taxes?

2) The top 5% pay most of the taxes. The top 10% pay 70% of the income taxes. Tell me why we should cut taxes for the people who dont pay their fair share and raise them on those who pay far more than their fair share

I'm surprised that you would write such a thing? Surely you know that the 95% Obama is referring to are the 95% who now PAY taxes.

Do you mean to suggest that only the people paying the most taxes deserve tax cuts and the middle class taxpayer, the ones who do not have disposable income to speak of do not? If that is what you mean isn't that an outrageously elitist position?

Why should a group that makes say 22% of the income pay 40% of the income tax? There is NO WAY they use 40% of the services.

How is it elitist to say that fairness demands that if you make 22% of the income you pay 22% of the income tax?

Right, sure, you know more than he does about taxes and what he means. Very realistic of you. BTW - It's only Republicans like you who call Obama "Messiah" or "the smartest man who has ever run for President."

I believe that the progressive income tax was created by Teddy Roosevelt, a Republican.

One more thing to consider, especially now that the Dems rule the roost with almost a super majority? The chances of there not being a progressive income tax are nill for at least the next 10 years, if not forever.

Dem cancers tend to last a long time. Hell of a justification for something that was used to give congress far more power than the founders intended-something that politicians can use to pander to the lower classes for votes

Absolutly not, Tax cuts are good no matter who they are for(Provided they make a paycheck in the first place). Its only the tax increases on the rich that I am worried about, no one should get a tax increase, even Bill Gates, in this economy.

I'd love to see how you explain someone getting a tax cut if they don't pay taxes to begin with.

Are you advocating a flat tax? Seems rather insincere if you are advocating so now when you could've done so in the last 8 years or deffinetely between 2001 and 2006.

How much did the Bush cuts help us? All I've seen is more debt since he took office.

Sure, let's help the uber rich buy their trillionth home by giving them a nice big fat tax cut.
Are you a top 5% income of America?
