I won't shed any tears if your boss or employer cuts your job because of Obama's tax hikes.

Uh...that depends on how that tax cut is paid for. A tax cut for all financed by high interest borrowing is not good. A tax cut financed by cutting basic services like firefighting and police is not good. A tax cut that fuels inflation is not good. Would you want a tax cut even if it helped cause inflation to rise to 10%? Yikes. Let's see. A tax cut that gives me $2,000 yet causes my purchasing power to get reduced by $5,000 due to inflation? No thanks.

People need to get rid of the attitude that tax cuts = always good. They aren't.

Whoops. I voted for will vote for. I meant they won't. Why? Because the corresponding method of paying for them will likely be tax hikes elsewhere. Enough of a reason for the GOP to say no.

Should that happen I'll take great delight in the knowledge that you are paying for my welfare

Hang on, something about workers not paying income tax yet still paying taxes and yet then being able to get money back?

It's a bit of a curiosity when people say that the uber rich support the GOP and that those on welfare support the dems, because when I look around at districts that voted for the GOP overwhelmingly, they're mostly all rural remote locations where they are predominantly below median income, yet when we look at democratic voters predominantly urbanite districts of high population. Hell in California zip code area 90210 voted overwhelmingly democratic same as districts on Manhattan island of new york. Which means even rich people support Obama's tax plan - curious.
Very curious, in particular when you think about it, that it would impact "negatively" on the rich more and those below the median income would be positively inpacted the most.
So it would seem that it's still an issue of culture war than it is about tax policy - which would seem to suggest that those complaining about Obama's tax plan as paying for the poor (whom would get welfare regardless of) are either oblivious or dishonest (something about paying taxes just not income taxes and as a result getting something for nothing) are more so ticked off about social liberalism then anything else.
But if we look at social liberalism, that's virtually 60% of the nation that would identify more positively with social liberalism, and come on, let's face it, no one is in support of all businesses shutting down on sunday for observance of sabath, fixed marriages, women ought not work and are inferior to men, or for that matter no sex for entertainment, so I would say more like 99.9999% people here are socially liberal to a certain degree than they would social conservatism.
Just a thought.

It's somewhat inaccurate. Rich lawyers favor democrats, as do rich actors. Rich industrialists go both ways. Finance as well. Neither party really has a stranglehold on the rich. But it's not surprisingly that rural vote Red.

That would seem to be the case.

Everybody who works pays taxes. Social Security and Medicare are taken out of every penny earned.

So everybody working pays taxes. This is what Obama is talking about. You will get some of that back as a refund. Just like earned income credit.

*Or all of it back or more than all of it back.

Productive? Tell us what the financial whiz kids on wall st. produced?
If you want to talk down redistribution of wealth, bear in mind that it is already in place. The wealthy on wall st. take OUR money, manage it poorly, and distribute millions to themselves.
I have no issues with those who make big money by inventing/discovering a useful product, but these guys have invented only one thing, the wall st. scam.
The middle class would serve itself well to get out of non-mortgage debt first, then paying down their mortgage until they are in a financial position that protects them from downturns. The middle class should QUIT investing in wall st. where their investment funds are used by the already rich to further enrich themselves...
Is my suggestion good for the nations economy? NO, but it tells wall st. that the public is in charge of their own money, and the suits on wall st. and madison ave. can just become hot dog vendors...
We need a new economy, one that begins at home, and wall st. can just find a way to adapt to that, but be careful even then. Their major talent consists
of finding ways to seperate the middle class from its money...
BTW, the domestic supervisor and I are in the top 20%, and we are retired...
