All 2008 US Nobel Laureates in Science Endorse Obama!

As well as 62 past winners

Source [Scientists and Engineers for America | All 2008 US Nobel Laureates in Science Endorse Obama!]

Quote:

In yesterday’s YouTube video posted by Marty Chalfie, he referred to the fact that all three science Laureates for 2008 had endorsed Obama. Now it is official. From the Obama campaign; “With one voice, 65 of the nation’s greatest minds, the largest number of Nobel Laureates to ever endorse a political candidate for office, have encouraged the American public to vote Obama on November 4th.”

Martin Chalfie, and Roger Tsien won the prize in Chemistry with for their pioneering work on the use of green fluorescent protein. Yoichiro Nambu won the prize in Physics for his mathematical model, which unified the smallest building blocks of all matter and three of nature’s four forces in one single theory.

Marty Chalfie’s YouTube video is HERE.
The updated Nobel letter of endorsement is HERE.

What kind of scientist would support a ticket with a person who believes creationism, excuse me, 'intelligent design' should be taught along with evolution? Wait don't answer that. Tons of priest in lab coats will jump up.

There were four US Nobel laureates in Science this year, not three.

Wait....does this prove that our country's greatest minds are part of a left wing science conspiracy?

Well, I know how the McCain ticket will play this - elitism. Proof that Obama is elitist and is out of touch
Why does it seem that religious people always have a problem with science?

Re: All 2008 US Nobel Laureates in Science Endorse Obama!

Democrats should be reluctant to use this story as evidence that smart people think like they do.

It stands to reason that many scientists believe (in many cases, mistakenly) that the only way for research to come about is for governments to fund that research. They do not trust the profit motive to be a motivating force in the discovery of new scientific knowledge. As such, they rely on political candidates who plan to open up the floodgates of taxpayer monies such that their research will be funded.

Simultaneously, many of these researchers are already supported by federal funds, funds which might dry up if a more thrifty candidate is elected. It is in their best interest to support the candidate who plans to increase their funding, not the one who plans to decrease it.

This means that even the most staunch republican scientist could become an Obama supporter simply because it ensures his job will remain extant.

So, resist the urge to grow smug simply because scientists are backing Obama--it does not mean that they share your self-loathing, Marxist, collectivist, anti-American views.

That being said, I think Republicans need to be shaken violently out of their irrational alliance with those who believe that intelligent design is natural science. Unfortunately, like the Democrats, they have to have a voter base. Democrats play on minorities' fears that whitey will destroy their homes and force them to work at McDonald's for infinity. Republicans play on Fundamentalists' fears that Democrats will try to destroy Jeeeesussss! and force their children to carve pentagrams in their foreheads while listening to slipknot albums and becoming part of the New World Order. If only there were a way to keep this kind of politics from being the rule of the day....
Oh yeah, I know! Enact the Fair Tax, and vote outside the two party system! Fire them all from their positions of power and elect someone else!

Then why are many scientists also entrepreneurs?

It is also in national interest to increase expenditures on funding science and technology, no other field has as much pay back as these fields do.

With one big problem, few scientists are socially conservative to support this pack of republicans.

Little disagreement here.
